  2. typically aircon units need regasing every 2years as it loses pressure and gas and as the gas lubricates the aircon pipe seals it is important to have it regased although having said that i aint had mine regased for the 6yrs i have had my polo as i am a tight git!

  6. the best way to clean the TB is to take it off and clean it with some carb cleaner also if the idling is wandering up and down it could be due to the temp sender
  7. are you sure? its £23 from eurocarparts but thats not OEM but it shouldn't be much more than that unless the 1.4 16v are cheaper as the 1.6 16v's have a oil cooler running from the coolant.
  8. Toyo's all the way T1-R's are the new ones, i have got those and i do think they are good but not as good as the older T1-S

  10. thats toooooooo much i got mine done by VW dealers in chester for £250 inc cambelt, tensioner and water pump and then it was £220 for the main service as well so £450 for a 80k service not bad

  12. to be honest if you haven't done front brakes before then i'd leave it to someone who has done them before unles you can find someone who knows what they are doing and could show you or guide you whilst you are doing them its a very easy job but its not a thing should be done if you don't know what you are doing

    Turbo's

    what compression ratio does the gti engine have? the 1.4 16v has a ratio of 10.5:1 and for a turbo you do really could do with a CR of less than 10:1 as mentioned the CR can be decrease by a thicker headgasket or you could run a very light boost turbo and you could keep the standard CR but it will have to be a very light boost, say 5-6psi just off the top of my head TSR did do a turbo conversion for the 1.4 16v engine for £2500 + vat fitted so i don't see why this couldn't be used for the GTI engine they claimed an increae of 50-70 bhp............ doubt the engine would last too long with that amount of power increase with standard engine internals.

  16. 15.8 is very slow my mate with a mk4 polo 1.4 16v got 15.9 at santa pod last time he went surely a standard gti would beat that 15.8..........
  17. i think there is more to it than just a uprated ECU mapping the 75bhp version has a limiter at `5800-6000` or so it must have something to do with the stuff in the head or something i think vw detuned it for insurance purposes
  18. drums will be fine on the back as most of the braking force is at the front if you get into mega power then yes discs on the back would be a good idea if you are worried then, like everyone said, just upgrade the brakes on the front ie bigger discs or better pads and discs
  19. the 100bhp engine has a different ECU, bigger valves, wilder cam, and i think it might have a more ported head.............. saying that maybe you could get him to change the head i think the block might be the same actually
  20. 4motion is like 204bhp right? so a R32 is 240bhp which clocks `0-60` in like 6.5 secs it weighs much more than the lupo but then it has the extra power i would say low 6's what `0-60` does the venom lupo do `0-60`?

  22. GTI brakes are 256mm jobbies like the lupo sport and the polo mk4 16v's and polo gti but both the lupo and polo gti's have thicker discs so ask for some 256mm brake pads EBC greenstuff aren't too bad
