  1. Went to one of Northumberland's biggest car shows a couple of weeks back, spring cleaning, needless to say I didn't pick up anything in the show and shine The obligatory show and pre show shots: In other less exciting news I have just received two rear arch liners, not at all inspired by mattarosa's thread, that are currently getting cleaned up ready for install.
  2. A little more work on the weekend: carpeted seat backs. shortened headrests. finishes off the boot quite nicely.
  3. I'll just leave this here.
  4. I got them in an interior bundle way back when I only had the one car, from carpet to heading, cost me about £200. I think I've got another set somewhere because I'm sure my black one came with them too.
  5. Yeah, I thought they were in pretty good condition if a tad mouldy but I washed them anyway and the amount of crap that came out of them was unbelievable, the water was running brown.
  6. Yeah, just car audio carpet, bought it about 5 years ago for my first build and it's been lying around since, not too bad a match. When I can be bothered I'm going to do the seat backs as well.
  7. Check the fuse box, if you've drilled through the loom it will most likely have shorted something, providing all the wires have been repaired correctly
  8. Well after picking up some wood and dodging the rain I got cracking All in all it cost me £18.99 for MDF and 3 days after buying wire because I had all the hardware and equipment from my previous builds. Not complaining. Not the best picture in the world but I'm chuffed to bits how it came out. I'll grab some more pictures on a nicer day with the old DSLR.
  9. Step drill, Christmas tree bit, cone cutter. Whatever its called, its satisfying to use . I had an OE grommet lying around and it fitted the 4 gauge perfectly. Being such a fat cable in comparison to the existing loom, it makes sense not to overstretch the standard grommet that was never intended to take such girth, it also makes the location which it enters the car less cluttered and easier to access from both sides of the firewall. I ran my 4 gauge through the loom grommet on my old silver Arosa and i was never satisfied how it looked, doing it this way was just neater.
  10. Amazon kindly dropped me some goodies yesterday Some wiring goodies, started cracking on today trying to make it as subtle as possible, nothing more unattractive than a big blue wire snaked around the engine bay. Instead of going the route everyone seems to take and push the wire through the main loom grommet, I got the Christmas tree but out and drilled a big fat hole in the firewall. A nice tight grommet and some split loom later and it's in. Quite chuffed with it, I am. Hoping to get it finished off tomorrow providing the weather says nice.
  11. Loose the wheel well and plate over it, couple of kilos there.
  12. Back at it again with the white Arosa. Blue Arosa
  13. Sport bumper is a straight fit however the exhaust does not, it has been said many times but the boot well off a sport/GTI is shallow to allow the exhaust to pass through. I have done this and you can view it in my build thread HERE. The exhaust would bolt on but you would need a reducer for the pipe to fit it on to the 1.0l cat providing the boot well has been modified.
  14. I'm looking for some information on the sport model boot well/spare wheel. When i bought my sport it had already passed through the hands of a few modders and thus was somewhat violated, the spare wheel never sat right and there was a visible bulge in the boot carpet, i suspected that the pad underneath was an incorrect part: This is the part from a NON-sport model - part number: 6H0601125A I believe the sport model may have a different part number but i cannot find any information online anywhere. If somebody could please post a series of pictures detailing how the sport space saver sits inside the boot and how the carpet is seated i'll give you a metaphorical cookie and a pat on the back. Cheers.
  15. Well, I've been a busy boy this weekend. Firstly I tended to my blown speakers, I replaced them with a nice set of Hertz coaxials and some shiny new hardware. The door cards had to be trimmed a little but nothing too major. Next in line was a service, genuine filter and oil from the parts department complemented with a gold plug for added protection. While I was on the ramps I took the time to drop the whole exhaust system from the turbo back as the middle section was sitting too far back, upon removal I found that the sleeving was pretty messed up beyond salvage, so I just cut it off and added a sleeve clamp, that got the exhaust sitting nice and flush with the bumper. Speaking of the bumper, I managed to split the upper and lower sections of the original and sport bumpers with the help of a hair dryer so I didn't have to go to the paint shop, saving me a good £150 or so. I'm pretty damn happy how it turned out. After all that I just had time to give her a quick wax, finally getting a chance to break out one of the pots of dodo juice I had ordered a few weeks back. Beads up nicely, small to medium beads in a very uniform pattern, a lot tighter than the collinite I have been using for the past few years. I still have a pot of light fantastic to try so I'll give that a lash on next time I clean her. Just waiting for a nice day when it's not raining or salty to squeeze a photo shoot in. Roll on summer.
  16. My Ibiza 6l currently at approximately 220bhp
  17. A little side note, I have been experiencing some strange braking recently, stepping on the brakes hard would send the car into the other lane. Not good. So when I had the bumper off I decided to take a quick look into the problem. It turned out to be a stuck hand brake cable, to the extent that it was completely immobile. The rear drivers wheel would free wheel with the handbrake fully applied. i had a look on eBay for some cables but all they had was febi brand for £15 a pop. A phone call later to the parts department and I managed to get a pair for around £8 each for the genuine article to pick up the next day. Its worth paying a little extra for genuine parts but when they are cheaper it's a no brainier. I always try the parts department whenever I need something because I'm quite often surprised by their prices and I would urge everyone else too as well. Aside from that, I'd recommend everyone to change the 10+ year old handbrake cables next time they're messing around without the rear end. The handbrake, being a part of the car you use multiple times every day, really makes it feel like new with brand spanky cables. And for a 20 minute job you can't knock it.
  18. UPDATE: Excuse the crappy picture but i was in a rush. Centre exit is on. I just need to go to the bodyshop and get the bumper done, while i'm there i might get the arches cut or rolled because the rust is spreading and i'm wanting a wider track at the rear, plus there is a little dink in the passenger arch, two birds. Fiddling round with the exhaust has made me wand a decat, and maybe a nice shiny centre resonator the tail pipe is sticking out a little more than id like, so again, two birds.
  19. 6K2 941 531 THead lamp switch with twin pull for front fog lamp retrofit or OEM replacement. Was fitted to my Mk1 arosa when retrofitting front fogs. £30
  20. Decent condition, will come with volt meter but not bass knob. Should drop straight into a Mk1 £35
  21. Re-trimmed with foam backed OEM Audi style black fabric, great condition, looks mint in car. All clips present and functional. Pick up only. £70
  22. Does the car have an under tray fitted under the engine?
  23. Yup, sport centre exit it is. Unfortunately i don't have access to a welder so DIY is off the cards. I rang up TPS to buy the panel needed, approximately £25, but once the lad on the phone processed the order it was found to be a discontinued part, so out came the drill. I've yet to have a look under the bumper of the diesel but i suspect there will have to be an arch cut into the rear panel alongside the section of boot pan to be removed. I already have the exhaust, heat shield, bumper and insulation so once i get the panel welded in and sealed it should be bolt on and paint.
  24. I do have a soft spot for them, love the OEM+ look. I originally wanted the OE sport alloys that came on some of the sport models (like my black one) but when these came up locally i had to have them. I believe they are from the ibiza 6K TDI sport. I think i like those particular BBS so much because they share resemblances with the above alloys, the Arosa sport alloys and the Lupo starlites. Ive just wrapped mine in Uniroyal Rainsport 3's and its like a go kart. I love the way it handles with the KW's, ARB and polybushes.
