  1. Are there any other suggestions or is it best to use an original Volkswagen part?
  2. That's not good feedback! Maybe I should buy a new factory one then?
  3. There are loads of different sizes, but it's dark and I can't be bothered to go and measure it. Here are the different sizes: www.powerflex.co.uk/i/product_images/EXHSTOPsaf.pdf

    Exhaust Mount

Hi Guys, I just noticed the exhaust on our GTI has gone a bit saggy as the mount looks like it has stretched. Has anyone tried a Powerflex Polyurethane exhaust mount, and if so which one fits? cheers David
  5. I've wondered a lot about the best suspension route. I first thought that the KW Variant 2's would be the best bet, but then learnt that the Bilstien kit was designed specificly for the GTI and other people on here have had good things to say about the kit. I don't want it to be stupidly low (I'd like to keep the front bumper lip on!) so I'm not bothered about that, I just want to optimise the handling without making it horribly hard and crashy.

    Bambi on Ice

Hi All, We've had our Lupo GTI for about 8 months. We looked at loads before we found one we were happy with, many had been crashed and poorley repaired. I can understand why they get bumped as in damp/wet conditions it handles like Bambi on ice. In fact pushed in the dry it still really wants to understeer and spin the inside front tyre and won't put the power down. I've read through loads of topics on here using the search and have come up with the conclusion that the Dunlop tyres are rubbish and there's too much roll which makes the tyre problem worse. Is the factory geometry poor? What has everyone else found? I've looked at the Bilstien B12 suspension kit and I'll probably replace the Dunlops with the Toyo's. Does this sound like the cure I'm looking for? Cheers David
  7. Thanks for your input guys. Mike, how many cars did you end up looking at before you were happy and what were the faults? Also did you buy privately or Main Stealer?
  8. I hope the Lupo will do better fuel economy than her 911. It holds £70 and will do about 280 miles on it. She tends to put £30 in it every 2-3 days! It's everything though I suppose, like the rear tyres are 275/45 18's and cost loads, the insurance is £800, it just adds up after a while. The Lupo Toyo's seem to be around the £50 odd range and her insurance quote was £300. Don't get me wrong the 911 is stunning to drive, but we live in the country and you can only use about 70% of the cars potential anyway, and catch traffic up so quickly you'll end up following cars all day. I thought that even if the Lupo only has 60 percent of the Porsche's performance she'll have just as much fun on the limit for a fraction of the cost. I had a Golf GTI 1.8 Turbo from work for a while, but to be honest it was so lardy and boring to drive you'd have mistaken it for just a regular Golf. She wouldn't have one because it wasn't fun to drive, please tell me the Lupo is more fun and agile than the Golf.
  9. Thanks Guy's. We've got a decent budget so I guess we'll spend some time looking. She's a bit of a driver, but hasn't had a go in one yet. From what I've read they seem pretty spritely. Not wishing to jump the gun, but what are the must do mods? I've seen a nice height adjustable Koni handling kit with threaded damper bodies on Awesome GTI's website!
  10. Hi All, Brand new member today! My girlfriend has decided she wants to have a bit of an economy drive and has decided to sell her 911. She's sick of spending most of her time at the petrol station! We have been looking at getting her a Lupo GTI (we are VW/Porsche people). Can anyone tell me is there any known faults, problems or things to look out for? Is there any benefit for buying from a 'Main Stealer' for warranty or any other benfit's? All comments appreciated.
