  1. clever idea i didnt have to think of as i had the tool but yes standard wheel nuts are 17 so should in theroy fit
  2. or if you know of an engine which is the same as ahw but better and straight replacement ive heard the bby engine is the same and plug and play
  3. firstly i apologize for another thread on putting a polo gti engine in a 1.4 lupo, secondly if you know of a good build thread or how to please post a link and dont read on thanks. right i own a 1.4s ahw the engine is on its way out and i cant find a doner engine to replace it with, so im going to get a polo gti engine. i know i need: engine interior loom engine loom exhaust manifold and use my gearbox or buy a sport or polo gti box and get the ecu encoded and set up to work with my key i am more than capable of getting the engine in however i need a good explanation of how its wired up and the easiest way to wire it up. i have heard people using there lupo loom and ecu and getting it uncoded however it only lets the engine run to 1.4 fueling i believe and the polo engine has an extra crank timing sensor which sends it out of time so it doesnt run properly. so in conclusion if im missing any parts i need please list them, and if someone has done this already please share your knowlage THankyou # JORDAN
  4. the noise could be the shell that the release bearing sits on i believe this model has one like my 1.4s changed my gear box and the small alli sleeve for the release bearing was snapped from the gearbox and turning with the release bearing. and look on the front of your gearbox there are 2 alen bolts look about 8mm could be torq top on fill bottom one empty use a funnel and tube hold it above the whole so the oil is pushed down the pipe
  5. toe is the horizontal angle of your wheels e.g. normal car have anything from 0.5 - 1 degree of toe in which has your front wheels like ... ( //---\\ ) as they are pointing inwards toe is used in racing to keep the tires under load this is to reduce tire roll and improve grip and performance this also eats through tyres so you do not want too much toe in on a road car which is why they have very little compared to the maybe 3 degrees which is used in racing ? is toe clear enough now, if not google toe diagram
  6. had engine running and oil is getting to the top of the engine, there is more gunk on the oil cap than usual so i believe it is my head seal so as it is sorn first thing im going to do it remove head check valves while im there and re seal it or skim it if needs be car hasnt over heated yet though. if not this doesnt work. im looking at getting the polo sport engine. as its a resonable power upgrade and from reading through thousands of posts it seems to be the simplest to put into the lupo anyway
  7. afk ? is that the 1.6 ? or standard 75bhp 1.4 ? i may aswell get some more power while im there would like to run it on carbs, i could get it running on carbs however most of the electrics wouldnt work inside my car id have to get manual windows lol
  8. have any experience with afh in a lupo ? im handy with my hands but it takes a while to figure out wiring etc as lack of experience. sure i could swap engine over in a few hours but getting it working is another matter isnt it
  9. im pretty sure 2 of the sump bolts are hidden behind the gearbox so that needs to come off aswell, just going to look for an afh or polo gti engine
  10. id rather fix it in all honesty just to last me until the end of the year when the mot runs out, what do i need to do to fix it , and im not sure if it is low oil pressure yet
  11. ill try and find someone with vagcom or diagnostics see how far that gets me
  12. i used halfords washers no problems you ill definatly know when your stub axle is loose lol
  13. do you already have shims or washers ? and guessing you car is lowered? i basically have 2x1mm washers on the bottom two bolts and i have 1x0.4mm washers on the front two, so as your looking at your axle the bottom left is 2.4mm bottom right 2mm and top left 0.4mm. the two bottom ones create the camber and because the axle is in a different place to standard the smaller washers on the front two bolts evens out the toe in. to your question 2mm on mine with washers is noticable possibly too much if you have really low profile tyres.
  14. yeah oil is 1mm ish under maximum and is still relativity clean, looking at getting a new car soon anyway but dont want it to break in the mean time so going to take the head off re seal it and make sure the timing is correct while im there, so is the oil light representative of a certain problem or could it be preassure pump or sensor ?
  15. well washers are placed round the stub axle bolts, shims are plastic disks which are set at and angle and cut out to fit inbetween i used shims at first but with the right angle set on the shims it gives you a bit of toe in aswell which you dont want as it increases tyre wear, this only applies if your lupo is lowered at the back if its not lowered at the back use shims if it is lowered use washers as you can get various sizes of washers to attain the camber you want without adding toe to your rear wheels p.s i have been running shims for over a year now and had no problem at all, and the racing team i used to work for also used shims they had a box with about 50+ different size washers in.
