  1. swwwwisssh .... uber fast responce, thanks, i hate to go on but how do component style coaxials differ from normal coaxials?...... They dont say wether there 'component' or not.... : http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spe...llow-mount.html i apologies for being such a newb.
  2. Eerrrrr, i know this is probably so obvious thats why i carnt find it out anywhere i have searched, basicly can i put coaxial speakers to replace original front door ones?, i understand coaxial is a speaker with a tweeter on it?....... or does it require the wires from the dash tweeters if you know what i mean? These are what i want to replace them with: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/infinity-r...llow-mount.html If this cannot be done would installing a component set be possible : http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spe...llow-mount.html Thanks in advance for any helpfull advice P.S Why carnt you seem to buy "just the normal 'non-coaxial speakers'" easily?
  3. My door speaker is broke, you know what alpine 16.5 and tweeters are simple replace so that i can keep all stock grills etc, and yer i know about getting the speaker adaptor plate. BTW ive also got stock head unit. Thanks for any info.
  4. Had to replace rear discs on sport garage wanted £160, which i didn't have..... got new discs and pads for £40, apart from forgeting the rear calipers needed reseting which i got a universal reset tool from halfords for £20, was an easy job defo worth doing to save 100 quid. Front lower rear bushes need replacing sometime, any idea of what that involves?
  5. Alrite, trying to keep up with bits replacing the rear discs n pads this week along with a few other bits. Now i have looked back at an advisory i got at last MOT and it say front lower arm inner rear bushes starting to split. Really i was wondering whats involved in replacing them, i did have elsa but i carnt get it working on this computer. I have never changed bushes before, is it worth upgrading them with poly ones, is it important to get correct tighterning torque and are the ones that are in there a pain to get out as i can imagin. Thanks for any advice, going to be working on it in the next couple of days so i'l take a peak then. With money being rather tight espacialy at the moment as is the case with many people, the more work ou can do yourself can really save big pounds, espacialy if you already have basic tools and a good head for mechanics.
  6. Ha, your tellin me, £340 no goodwill, no deal i talked to vw uk, and they couldn't do anythink, i have no chose of dealers theres only 1 on the island. Would do it myself but looks quite involved. At first they said £170 for the pedal box, but then they changed their mind and decided they needed new clutch cable and 'bits'. Do you know whether they replace they pedal box with another paper one?, warranty on parts is like a year or two so when the piece of crap breaks again it 5-7 years time it will another probably £400, sooner i get rid of this joke of a car the better. Its a big fecking joke, with big fecking bells hanging off it.
  7. My go faster pedal is like what you say, its always been like that...... its like some bonus extra travel that isnt needed, i dont think its a fault as such, but dont take my word for it.
  8. This is typical, just typical,.... 8 years? .......My lupo can barely be put into 1st and 2nd, crunches in reverse, has squeaky/wrong hieght clutch but is a year 2000 and if what you say is right i am going to have to start selling furniture, my furniture as a living again. If i tried to get it repaired as a goodwill what do you think my chances are, im going to phone the iow vw dealer tomorrow and see. If they will do it, is there a way i can do it myself?, perhaps with duct tape, cable ties and some hot glue......... or does it require specialist hammers and such. Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
  9. Does hard to ingage 1st and 2nd and squeaky, dodgey feeling clutch pedal mean pedal box replacing?, only started to happen the other day, do vw dealer still do free replacement as known manufacturing fault, how do i go about asking them for this freebee? Stats Lupo 1.4 16v sport yr2000 58,000miles Thanks, im really busy need to get this sorted, thanks in advance.
  10. Mine does this, i have an induction kit on it and i think that that might have caused it,..... just keep revin it up!!!
  11. Thanks for the heads up, i tried Liverpool Victoria online and they dont have that car to choose from, i will ring them tommorrow but usely if they dont have it online they usely dont cover it, but its worth a try i spose. The dart im looking at getting is up for about £4500, the only way i can see i can insure it at the moment is by taken out my own policy which completely blows my budget at the moment, what classic did your dad have?
  12. I am trying to get a quote for a 1974 dodge dart 5.9, its a complete pain in the ass. Im 20 and the majority of insurers say they will not cover under 21's or 25's, not only that the few that do, when you try to quote online they do not have that car in there drop down choose boxes and cannot enter it manually, you ring them up and the fill out the same thing so they just carnt do it. My local brooker wont cover adrian flux carnt insure me as an additional driver on my parents policy, and to have my own cost £££££ and they said that i carnt add additional drivers onto my own, i have tried overs like footman james, and one insurance company with talking owls.... but with ni luck, i think im going to give up and driver uninsured......................... joke. If anyone knows anywhere that might quote that would be great!
  13. Great now the recirculation button doesnt work, it still depresses but doesnt do nout, can anybody give me a hint on how i might be able to fix these things. Also while transporting a new battery it leaked onto the rear drivers side floor mat and desovled a big ugly patch of the mat which are vw original ones... which i could only find a complete set to buy and cost £40+, i don't know anywhere i could just get 1, its so f**king anoying,il buy new or second hand i dont mind, as long as its dark grey and in ok condition.
  14. Yea, i just had a look on the direcrgov website quote the info i got was that these cars will be exempt; "Old vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973 (historic vehicles)". The changes seem to be a s follows; "The 13 new vehicle tax bands will only apply to cars registered on or after 1 March 2001. This is because there is no comprehensive emissions data available for cars registered before this date." Pre 1 March 2001 are a set price each year; Engine size (cc) Not over 1549 Over 1549 Current rate £120 £185 2009-10 £125 £190 2010-11 £125 £205 From April 2010 anyone buying a new car in band M (Over 255 CO2 (g/km)) will be paying a ridiculous £950! Thats a factoid
