  1. Had these on the lupo for a while and they were great - simple enough to fit and dropped it a nice amount as shown in the photo, but not sure how much this was in reality. Nice and firm and just made the lupo handle really nicely. Took them off as sold the car to my little sister who lives in Glasgow and didn't like the harsh ride on the crappy roads! Think they were originally power coated and its flaking here and there but nothing more than you'd expect and you could just touch them up with some red oxide or whatever. Looking for £40 posted (postage would be £9) Best email me on ogzsamAThotmail.co.uk or text me on 07738 717579 All the best Ogz
  2. Ended up finally taking whole bracket and water pump off and putting it in the vice and knocking it out with a drift. Was totally solid, and yes not threaded as I expected, just couldn't get enough room under the car to whack it and had no way of supporting it to take the stress off the bracket. Was just the usual white powder and rust 'glueing' it in.
  3. thanks for the replies, just back to this after some weeks on other stuff Am currently soaking it in diesel as some folk suggest this is as good as any penetrating oil, after that will hunt out some plus gas or summit. Thanks for the useful reply rich, i don't find changing an alternator difficult. I had a specific question which is whether the section in the drawing is threaded or not. I anybody else knows the answer to this question i'm still wandering!
  4. Hi Folks Having problems with replacing my alternator, bolts were rusted solid and ended up snapping the lower/front one and having to cut off with the air saw. Problem is, that was a couple of months ago and I've just gone back to it to see that I still have a bit of bolt stuck in the mounting, with a snapped end and a cut off end . The thing is I can't work out if there is a female thread in the mounting which the snapped bit of bolt is rusted into, or if its just stuck in and corroded. Given how stuck it is I reckon there is a thread, but the bit on the alternator housing itself also has a female thread obviously, so it doesn't quite make sense that there is one on the mounting. Thing is if its threaded then I and stuffed because there's barely enough bolt showing to get hold of and I'm going to have to drill it, which might be just about doable but is a horrible job. If its not threaded then I feel more comfortable with giving it a thump but don't want to hit it too hard for fear of cracking the mounting I cobbled a wee picture so you can see what I mean. Anybody any idea?
  5. Nice thanks, I'll text you
  6. Selling the loop to my wee sister as i need something bigger, and the cheapy -40mm springs I've got on are just way too harsh anyway, but will be hopeless on Glasgow roads which are terrible! After just standard front and rear springs so I can make it all good for her (would consider some other non-standard springs slong as they're cheap and not too hard!). Hoping somebody's got a set they're chucking out and I can just pay postage?? Thanks - you can text me on 07738 717579
  7. Hey sorry for delayed reply - they are mint, maybe a bit too mint for my wallet, and for my slightly ratty new paint job, but PM me a price, i'd be interested anyway
  8. After some ally cats for the loop as it says 7j x 13 - then I can use the tyres off my steelies with a little stretch... Just done a nice satin grey rustoleum paint job and its looking sweet but needs some wheels urgently! Let me know if you've got any for sale, or anything else (probably old vw) that might be nice I'm in Maidstone area but could travel for them Let me know Thanks Ogz

    Power steering pump

Hi folks In need of a new power steering pump for the SDI. P/N 6N0 422 154 A or 6N0 145 157. None of my local scappies got anything I am in Maidstone and can come collect or don't mind paying postage Thanks Ogz
  12. Hi Folks Anyone know where I can get a replacement glowplug harness/connector for my SDI? (Plastic insulated connector linking glowplugs, carries leccy) Is it a main dealer part? tried at my local motor factors who have plugs but not harness, and GSF don't seem to stock it. Maybe I just can't think of the right words to google!
  13. HI Folks Well excuse me if this is a bit of a dumb question, but, I've just fitted new wheels to my SDI, and I am sure its affected the handling slightly. I can see that the slightly larger diametre has affected the camber of the back wheel so that they are slighty negative (top in, bottom out) and it feels like that is what's doing it. When I'm doing say 50 upwards, and i steer into a corner I get the sensation that the car is settling onto the back wheel slightly but and it makes the thing feel a bit twitchy at the back end. I've just sorted the tracking all round - could a tiny amount of negative camber at the back be affecting the handling like that? Its really not that major and compared with some of the camber set ups you see folk with its really hardly anything. I've only gone from 175/55/R13s to 185/65/R14s so I calculate that that in theory means a change in overall rolling diametre of 31mm ish, which sounds like significant enough to make a difference. When I measure across the wheels it looks more like there is only a difference of more like 10 mm. To preserve the original rolling diametre I figure I would have to gone for 185/50/14s or something like that. anyway i can see that the bigger wheels are affecting the camber, but I can't believe it is doing anything more than adding a few more people into the car. Also it seems like the alloys (pirelli p-slots) are noisier rolling on the road - might just be the tyres though I suppose? Whadya reckon?
