I've had exactly the same issue, it was a problem with the earth from the starter motor in my case - it sounds like you've got the same thing. My boyfriend got a piece of wire and checked the connection, made sure that it earthed through the wire and then when we took it away it was broke again thus proving its the earth. Also get a multimeter on it and check all of the connections to the starter motor. I just changed the earth cable and I haven't had a problem since

So the latest update for the engine rebuild... Primered the engine The white vht paint that I had for the engine turned out to be really crap and thin so I've been waiting to get the new paint. To be honest the new one wasn't much better but it looks fine - just needed quite a few layers. So the final result: I've also managed to buy a few of the last needed bits such as the clutch release bearing and spark plugs. Just need to get all the fluids now In other news... I actually gave Alva her first wash since she's been off the road! Also a bit of prep before she goes away for a bit... High Alva! Striped - also took out all of the interior plastics, carpet etc And then Alva went away... She should be back in 8 weeks - I'm very excited!!

I've now ticked one thing off my list - pressed plates! And they came just in time for the lupo mega meet We gave Luke a very special boot build to prove how much rubbish he has in his car! So today we finally started some painting. I was trying to wait for some warmer weather but that's obviously never going to happen. Ordered the last of the paint so should be getting some prettier colours soon! Got a couple of big things in the pipeline so need to get this engine back together and back in soon

Interior now sold, went to its new home today. Sad to see it go but moving on to other things

I really have no idea... I've just got a quote with DHL and they say its about £1000+.........eeek!

The lowest I'd take is £450 to be honest, there's not many of these left out there now Haha. I imagine it'd cost a lot to ship to Denmark. But for £450 you can have them and sort shipping out yourself

Just to update: I do have all 4 leather headrests. Also heres the little scratch on the passenger seat And the 'slight' ware on the drivers seat

Due to my new seats I'm looking to sell my leather interior. Front and back seats with doorcards. Looking for about £500 but would be willing to negotiate a bit as I need a gti rear bench and a full set of gti doorcards The drivers seat is just starting to show a bit of ware but is still in almost perfect condition. I believe there is a scratch from those stupid buttons on the back of jeans on the front passenger seat but that's me being picky - it's not noticeable! I think I have all 4 headrests but ill have to check. I'll also get new pictures tomorrow.

So I've been meaning to update this for a while. I got the tyres changed last weekend so I'm no longer rolling around on the sport wheels which is nice I decided to head down to the Spray Shop meet so did a bit of cleaning, a nice chance to use my new Auto Finesse tar remover. Before: After: It's honestly one of the best products I've ever bought and it was a reasonable price too! Decided to go a bit crazy before the meet by using the blue fur I had lying around... And the boyfriend bought me a matching parcel shelf mascot! I know a lot of people will hate this but it's my car and I think you've got to have a bit of fun with your daily! This worked really well, just wiped off Progress so far: Just need to finish cleaning all the little bits but its nearly there

Trouble with the earth so totally unrelated to the new head unit, replaced the starter motor too just to be sure plus it's done a lot of miles so was probably on the way out anyway. All sorted now and I've had no more problems since

So yesterday I got the head back. And I've finally got some paint - primer, white and lacquer vht. Just need to order the turquoise paint now So next thing is to finish cleaning everything and get some painting started

I've been looking into these springs for a while so it's nice to see a set on

Good progress It'll be nice to see this completely back in one piece.

Apparently tar remover products can get it off so ill give that a try this weekend.
