Hi I've managed to break about four fins in the air vent on the top of the centre dash.. The one on the right of the hazard light... Can anyone get hold of these I don't really want to replace the whole thing..... Cheers

Oh , I think the solenoid is the electrical part of the mechanism block??

Thanks Ok so I removed both lock mechanisms, took them apart .....no obvious problems with the solder on either. Micro switches were all fine. I cleaned them and popped them back in, still nothing from passengers side, not even a click. Drivers side works, then doesn't then works sometimes...... I've heard about the solenoid but have no idea what it is .. I think I'll buy some new mechanisms... What do you think? Many, many thanks

Hi So my Gti only remotely locks the boot, the drivers side sometimes works and the passenger one does not work at all, never, not even a clicking sound. I've read many threads and it looks like the micro switch things.. Do you guys agree? Or is it the central locking module? Also how much do you think vw will charge to fix it? !! Thanks Alex

Autoglass have agreed to replace my windscreen with a genuine vw one too ..

I'm getting my Gti back hopefully at the weekend, had loads of work done, removing all corrosion blisters on wings and re spraying both sides including door and boot handle surround etc.. I'm looking forward to getting it back . I'll post some pics if anyone's interested

Thanks it's a 52 plate Gti 80k. All vw service history , 1 owner .. Just had major service at vw and they said it was a lovely clean car. I still think it's worth it tho

Autoglass replaced my screen with a non genuine screen, I informed them it should be gti glass as this is what the car is supposed to have. They are now replacing it with a gti one they are buying from the dealers. Thanks for the info gtiboy!

Thanks for the help but I. Still a it confused as to which clip you mean. Do you mean the square piece of wire directly behind the barrel lock? I'm not sure what you mean by horseshoe?? Sorry!

Hi, So I've tried to remove the boot handle. Removed the two torx screws and Taken off the plastic trim inside boot. Removed the three torx screws under the handle/ lock. Disconnected the linkage from the central locking motor and the other linkage to the catch ( the two white circular plastic things ) The lock is now free. However. The lock mechanism on the back of the barrel will not come out of the hole in the boot, no matter if I try to wiggle it, there's no way all that stuff will come out . What am I missing? Here's pics of what I see.. Thanks!
