  1. cheers guys, hmm might have to bite the bullet on this one then and take it in
  2. So i finally raised my car high enough to get on the ramps for it's MOT and repaired the ARB, the MOT failed for a few things and i'm shocked at the price i've been quoted (~£250)so i'm planning to SORN the car and do the work myself before taking it in again for another MOT. I failed on excessive play in nearside front wheel bearing and excessive play in nearside lower ball joint, I'm planning to try and tighten the bearing and replace the lower ball joint, although the small screw I can't for the life of me see how I can get at the nut to tighten the wheel bearing, it's behind a cap / washer to protect it, it seems and is rippled , is there a special tool for this or will it just pull off with a lot of force and a screwdriver ? Thanks in advance
  3. I guess snapping my ARB might be an indication it's a little too low ! Haha yeah i plan on lifting it a little, probably only for MOT, although it would be nice to park half up on curbs Thanks guys for the posts, I just find it strange it's been fine passing MOT and getting jacked up every other year up until now ! I guess I'll buy (and from what i can tell easily fit) a new ARB, lift it and run it through the MOT again at least i'm on coil overs ... even if they have been greased i can see it being a fun job lifting them after so many years
  4. Hi all, So I wasted the whole of Saturday trying to find a garage that would MOT my lupo, every other year it's been fine but this year it seems that everywhere has new taller jacks! The result of the day is that i now know i at least need to replace my anti-roll bar before the next MOT. I found one on ebay, it's ~£15 for a used one and it's the front, am i right in thinking that the lupo only has a front anti-roll bar ? also I think eurocarparts do them for around the same price but new, which i guess would be better ? After i replace the ARB i will then find/buy a c spanner and unlower it! Any one else had problems this year with your low lupo's this years and the MOT ?
  5. Thanks all, Sorry i wasn't getting emails from here! The battery was shot but after i swapped the 2 old glow plugs it starts like a dream (4x£3 on ebay!) my friend tested the resistance and it was high on two and low on the other two, for good measure i swapped the all I've had my clutch, battery and glow plugs go since xmas, and now my drivers door lock spindle has snapped off! Cheers for the help & suggestions
  6. well i got a friends multimeter, the readings are good (14v + ) so it's not the alternator this time it seems, i swapped the battery for a new one and things are better. The heater coil light now goes off straight away so it looks like it was the battery. On a cold -2°c or so day it still takes a 2nd try to get the engine started with some grey smoke out the back, so we also tested the glow plug voltage too, 2 were in the 100s volts while the outer 2 on both sides were really low like 0.1v and 1.0v . I might swap the glow plugs also, so i can get everything running smoothly again thanks all for the posts
  7. Thanks for the suggestions I think the earth is connected back correctly, i was slightly gung ho when removing it, so not 100% sure it's connected back in the same way , the earth is connected though. I'm currently waiting on a multimeter so i can test nick123's suggestion, it should be above 12v at very least and more like 14v with the car running right ?
  8. Hey Guys, I recently swapped my clutch in my Lupo 1.7 sdi , the battery was disconnected for around a week and left outside, after putting everything back together it started after a slight delay but chugged along fine after starting. I've since travelled a few short journeys as well as a motorway trip (65miles give or take) each time it took a second to start until the other day, i tried to start it the other day when it was snowy/icy and the car just wouldn't fire up. I may have gotten slightly frustrated and gave it a few more goes until the battery was pretty much flat. I've since used a Battery charger to charge the Battery and it charges, and cleaned the terminals with baking soda and added grease to the terminals, the car then started straight away, because i didn't want to drain the battery any more i gave it a 40min / 15 mile run. I come to it today and it just won't fire up, it tries to start but no joy . I'm looking on ebay for new battery but don't want to waste my money if it's something else. What you think guys? Did i just mess the battery up ? was it the cold ? or is there a possibility i might of messed up putting everything back together when changing the clutch? Thanks in advance
  9. Ok so for the last 3 days i have had trouble going in to first gear, it's been really stiff, sometimes other gears aswell but mostly 1st until i have to push really hard, my clutch biting point is about 1/2 way up. The gear stifness has been getting worse until today where i could'nt get in to reverse either, i finally forced it in with a lovely grinding sound and the smell of buring (clutch?) and was unable to get it out again! I turned the car off and was able to move the gear stick freely from gear to gear. As i was just coming out of the supermarket when this happend i was able to park up and ask them if it was ok to leave it there for the time being. I have a mate coming round to tow it back home. Any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance
  10. Cool thanks i will pick some up later, only problem i can see is that people said you need to put this rad weld stuff in your radiator cap (not your water as it can block pipes :-S) still have no idea how to get to radiator cap etc, will get some torx keys tomorrow and have a go at dismantling though Yup the Sump bolt was tight when i changed oil, so i guess i will check again when i jack it up in the next few days Thanks for your help
  11. For the last month or so I've noticed my water going down, not rapidly but just needs topping up now and then probably about once a week if i don't drive it much. I've just changed my oil and when under the car noticed that the water leak seems to be on my radiator somewhere, not sure where as i can't seem to get to it with out dismantling everything and disconnecting the fan etc is this what i'm going to have to do ? or have i missed an easy way to get to the radiator, any diagrams or guidance would be nice The 2nd thing i noticed while under the car was that i seem to have a slight oil leak, again it's not anything huge, but it's enough to make me want to fix it I cleaned up the oil residue with a friend yesterday in hope that i will be able to locate the area that it's coming from, i've not heard of any common problems with lupos and oil leaks but could if be the gasket it's looking like it might be leaking from there, nothing in concrete yet though, and could i do this myself if seals etc do need replacing? i'm always up for a spot of breaking fixing things my self
  12. This is old news from aug 09 but still funny so i thought i would share, Microsoft have now changed the image but i saved the images before they did lol If you look at Microsoft's Poland business solutions Web site, you will probably not notice anything odd about the main picture. However, when you compare it with the original English version, you can see that someone decided that showing black people in Poland is probably not going to be convincing to business. They just Photoshopped the head of a white guy in for the black one, in an amateurish way, leaving his hand unchanged. English Microsoft Page : Polish Microsoft Page :
