  1. what sort of power are you expecting from this engine?
  2. You were the guy that was hoofing around at Southend last night , nice car , but no need to drive so fast!
  3. Nice work , a friend of mine is building a turbo GTI aiming for 300 hp+
  4. 77mm will be fine if you have the engine bored to suit.

    Charged Loops

Use a 1.4 or 1.6 polo engine with the steel block , This would be much more suited to a charged application.
  6. Thank you, sorg use updated rods and pistons so 1.6 bar would be reliable as far as the bottom end is concerned. Crowning isn't ideal yes it may get you out of a hole , the process in turning a piston is very precise and just lathe the top off is asking for trouble. Spacer plates can work but can also create more room for error and has it's limitations. The effect the deck height and also the important squish area. I have experience of both spacer plate and proper internals so I have a good idea of what works better and cost effective for my goal. 160-180hp may be ok with a spacer but any more with boost may reduce reliability dramaticly
  7. Not if you know what you are doing, it's been done before , the drivetrain is the only limiting factor, thefactory lupo box cannot handle it
  8. Why dont you run a GTI block , propper rods and pistons , then add a decent managent and turbo to run 300+ hp? The result would be more rewarding for sure!!!
  9. How much power are you looking to make?

    Gti Turbo

I would Love to see someone make 300hp + from a worked on GTI engine. It would make a really exiting engine.

    Gti Turbo

did you get anywhere with this...?
  12. what are your power expectaions?
  13. Yes its possible , you need to replace the rods and pistons, a decent supercharged setup on a 16v with give you over 230hp very easily. A turbo conversion will get you alot more if done properly Your base engine (AFH) is spot on , I really dont understand why people use the silly VW alloy block and later head to use for forced induction. The design is rubbish and the heads are even worse and need throwing in the bin. Budget for an aftermarket ecu , because you'll need it.
