  1. In hindsight would you recommend the VW central locking over an aftermarket central locking? I haven't fitted mine yet, but it seems like the benefit of the aftermarket one is simply the time it takes to fit. I reckon once I got the trim off it would take half an hour to fit and store nicely up behind the fuse box. Did you have to remove the entire center console? Main thing, does it communicate via VAGCOM? Obviously an aftermarket one is a separate product so really, it's encapsulated from the convenience module of the car and VAGCOM. If you used a proper VW convenience kit, does that mean it now integrates with VAGCOM, or not? Out of curiosity, what's the part code for the Convenience kit?

jamie, is that like an aerosol then or a touch up pen or what?
  4. It's not impossible to get a super flat battery (cool description), but it could well and truly **** it up if you do have. Hopefully you've not done that, it can damage them.

Sounds cool. I think I'll do this in the next week or so, any recommendations on the spray to use? This doesn't look too bad: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEROSOL-SPRAY-PAINT-VW-FLASH-RED-300ML-/400408993232?pt=UK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item5d3a3c5dd0 I've used Holts before on other things and it's performed excellent.

It was the rear one I really want to do. When you say prizes off? Is it hard to get it off then?

    Colour Coding

Yeah, I think I'm just going to go ahead and do it. What's the best way? Remove the badge, masking tape over the VW and spray, or is it better to leave it on the car while I do it ?

    Colour Coding

So I'm going to colour code a few things on my car. Obviously interior I'm free to do so, but do I have to declare all of them on the exterior? Have people had their premium go up from simple things such as colour coding the VW badge?
  10. This + 1! Also try the inverse of what you've done today, kill the connection to the amp and see if you still get a drain. There might be something else causing you to drain your battery.
  11. Bloody 'ell she's taking her time, you need start kicking some arse, don't let her procrastinate her way out of it. It was her fault after all! The only reason her mechanic would look at it, is if she doesn't trust yours to give a fair quote, which is a bit cheeky if you ask me. If that's the case tell her you'll let the mechanic view it but only under your supervision and that you still want the work to be done by yours. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever why an external mechanics opinion is even required, she's bashed your bumper, damaged it, cost of the repair is what you've quoted her as far as I'm concerned but for me she's simply trying to make it as hard as possible for you. Alternatively, suggest that you take her down the old insurance route, her premiums will go up, plus she'll lose her no claims. It's actually your discretion if you take it to insurance, she can't force you to do it privately, so if she's dragging her heels, threaten her with that, because once it goes there, it's out of her hands as she'll be forced to admit liability.
  12. I'm very tempted to come to one of these, my Lupo won't be as nice as all of yours though, I haven't had chance to do anything to it yet hehe
  13. Amber did you ever get around to sorting that insurance claim?
  14. TArosa, I already have the most powerful, awesome, economical Lupo ever (last few weeks I've been averaging about 60Mpg at 200Mph), its all thanks to my mate zingy, he's attached to my rear view mirror. He is my engine maintenance guy, he used to work on F1 cars a bit like Jay from the Inbetweeners did too I believe, and I reckon he's the key to my ultimate success. Latest testing suggest 0-60 in about 2.4 seconds and BHP of approximately 75000000000000000000000000000001. Car is a Lupo SDI with a sticker on the window, kkthxbye. No need for a GTI, I got zingy!!! Zingy whoop
  15. Basically thrash the arse off it for half an hour. Cleans all the **** out of the combustion chambers etc. It's more useful on Diesels (I think, don't know), but my previous mechanic used to tell my old man to take my nans car (it's done 12k miles in nearly 10 years, that's how much its used) out for an 'Italian Tuneup' before it went in for a service as most of the crap would be blown out the exhaust but some might be deposited in the sump, hence doing it before a service. He also used to say take it for a quick thrash just before an MOT because the emissions from a car are much lower when warm than when cold. Can't hurt surely
  16. Sounds like grotty petrol, give it some fresh petrol and a quick Italian tuneup
  17. Sounds like the ABS terminals might have corroded. I heard about this on another VW forum, I imagine it's rare, but does happen. Did you actually try and drive it, you know a couple of miles? Might just clean up a little bit.
  18. And they just cleared them? They didn't like, tell you what was wrong?
  19. I switched from 10w40 to 5w30 and it runs a lot smoother but I need to check the oil every so often. I'll let you know how i get on.
  20. Or right click off ebay which seems to be a whole lot cheaper
  21. Is it one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-LUPO-N-SF-Passenger-Side-Door-Latch-Mechanism-/170961724399?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27ce1ce3ef That has wires on it so...? Also http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1542461-MKIV-door-locks-explained-why-you-re-having-problems!!!-(
  22. Ahh, if it runs on Canbus, then you have little hope. Still, feel free to post your tutorial when if you finish fitting it.
