  1. It actually depends on the chassis number as well as they decided to change them at one point. The later models should be marked with a green or yellow bit somewhere. Green = 20mm and Yellow = 22mm. I would suspect the AQQ engine to have a 20mm bar
  2. If coolant keeps going down and you've got no leaks then it sounds like head gasket has gone. You can get a garage to check it. You'll need to get the head skimmed etc as well. Probably looking at £400 absolute minimum if you're getting a garage to do it. Might as well do cambelt at the same time as well.
  3. It was close if you see the vid. And thats a Bora dude
  4. Cheers guys. Yeah it's a pretty awesome shot! Jon got some great pic, bit of a slow mo almost lol
  5. Well not a great weekend. Managed to put myself 2nd in class on the grid in qualifying, but got a tap up the rear on the 3rd lap of the race which unfortunately ended my race. Video of it, doesn't really show exactly what happened but you get an idea!
  6. Sounds horrible...its insurance not breakdown cover. 'You will have to pay for costs and expenses yourself, safe in the knowledge we will reimburse** any amounts covered by this insurance in approximately 14 days.' So if you breakdown on the otherside of the country you'll have to payout hundreds to be recovered and wait 2 weeks for it back. Probably some crappy t&cs as well to try and wiggle out of it!
  7. I was with Green Flag as part of a deal with a car I bought. There service was crap....I didn't have the tools in the car to remove a wheel, so the guy turned up and basically gave me a breaker bar and I had to change my own wheel! Another time I stupidly ran out of petrol and it took them 2 hours to get to Silverstone Circuit, the guy got lost apparently!? They also damaged a bumper because they didn't have a flat bed and the car was lowered. Quite a few Green Flag guys seem to be local garages that Green Flag pay to do call outs for them (I don't think I ever had a Green Flag van turn up, it was always a local garage). So the service isn't really consistent like the RAC or AA would be. Since it ran out I've been with the AA and they've been great. I've been flat bedded from London to Bristol. I've had mates given transport from Santa Pod to Bristol. I've called them out for friends cars when I've been with them. I had a guy take a part apart and remove the insides so it wouldn't stop the car working etc. Never had a problem with them and they've always been good.
  8. Went out for a bit of testing today and the car was going well. Felt much better through the corners...until I turned into a corner as normal and the car span for no reason...turns out it was on fire!!! Luckily I got waved down and it was put out. The power steering pipe was on the manifold and burnt through it and caught fire. There was power steering fluid everywhere so I must've slid on it.
  9. I'm urgently after a power steering pipe for my lupo. Anyone any ideas? I've tried local breakers and cant find one
  10. So to make the AST top mounts fit, machined out the strut: First fitting: Nearly ready
  11. If it's doing it when warmed up then I expect the pressure is dropping when the oil is warmed. What oil is in there? When was it last changed?
  12. Cheers At the moment I'm suffering with the Gaz's. Although its a combination of the Gaz and AST Top Mounts lol, right pain in the arse!
  13. I have head work, cams, throttle bodies. Haven't gone for pistons and rods yet but I am just getting a quote... Nothing is cheap though!!
  14. Well I guess I'll summarise my winter changes Late evening! New suspension vs old New Exhaust And wrapped... New wishbones with Powerflex Black rear bushes and new ball joints First fitting of new suspension...rear springs a little bit big! lol New top mounts H&R Anti roll bar Oh and anyone thinking of Polybush bushes...not quite right!
  15. Its weird mine has a lot of roll and I have arbs lol. What suspension you running?
  16. It's best to change them. To save changing them when one goes in the future As you say its pull and push!
  17. The old ones look the same on the left and right. :s Need to get them out and take some pics!
  18. For people that are interested pics below. The main difference looks to be the big step underneath. But when I get the other pics up you can compare properly 6N0 407 365 A - ECP Part No: 617440445 I'll add the other one when I'm back at the garage!
  19. That's a great description however I'm guessing the Lupo is slightly different to the Polo. Part no's from ECP for mine are 617440445 and 617440435. I'll have a look on ETKA now and see what it says, ETKA says: AFK, AQQ, AUA, BBY and AUB VW Part no: 6N0407365A - Left - ECP Part: 617440445VW Part no: 6N0407365 - Right - ECP Part: 617440435 It also says: ALL, ALD, AHY, AHW, AKQ, APE, ANV, AUA, AUC, AUD, BBY VW Part no: 6N0407365 - Left - ECP Part: 617440435VW Part no: 6N0407365A - Right - ECP Part: 617440445 So looks like they do swap over on different cars! Thanks for the advice dude.
  20. I'm very confused about the ball joints on the lupo. I bought 2 ball joints 1 left and 1 right, different part nums. However the one's I removed from the car were exactly the same. Any ideas if they are the same part on both sides or different? If so whats different about them?
  21. I'm getting confused, whats stopping you getting them in 57.1 and then using the existing spigot ring?
  22. sounds a bit silly to me. Surely you get the spacer to the same size as the hub then if you want to change wheels in the future you have no problem. You can pickup spigot rings for a fiver on ebay!
  23. Yeah the clubman would've been perfect for me...never mind eh!
