  1. Hi Guys, My 1.4 T reg Lupo just failed its MOT on emmisions, Here are the results, if anyone can point me where to start that would be brilliant. it is also burning oil so thinking possibly head gasket? or could it be the lambda sensor making it burn oil? Fast Idle: CO =< 0.3% 0.70% FAIL HC =< 200 ppm 345 ppm FAIL Lambda 0.97 - 1.03 1.059 FAIL Second Fast Idle again FAILED on the same sort of figures but it PASSED on Natural Idle test. As I say any help appriciated!

  2. I know a common problem with the lupo is oil pressure. My lupo's oil pressure has been all over the place lately, one min being at normal level the next dropping to nothing. I have just changed the oil pressure plug and took the car for a quick spin, it's staying at normal for a lot longer than before but as soon as I pull up to a set of lights it drops. I've checked the engine bay, no sign of a oil leak, no oil in the spark plug wells and just alittle bit of oil in the air box which is normal for a 1.4 16v I've checked the oil level and its ok. Has anyone got any ideas or in the same situation? Should I worry? Cheers Steve

  3. As my water pump has gone and I don't have the money to pay a mechanic to repair it can someone give me any info on changing cambelt/water pump on an AFK engine. Will it be easier if the engine is out of the car? Thanks all!

  4. One of the most common faults on the Lupo/Arosa/6N Polo after the Pedal box issue is the gear box failing! Usually the most common on 1.4 16v models Symption of a Failing Gear box: If your lucky like i have been with my gear box it will start to wyhine Hard to select gears or grinding of gears (check its not pedal box first!) Dont get the noise confused with the clutch release bearing, if the clutch release bearing is noisy it will be in neutral and you can usually feel it vibrating through the clutch pedal. the noise will also go when you put your foot on the clutch pedal! The wyhine will start when you drive and will increase with gearbox speed. The part usually at fault: is the Pinion Bearing, it can go without warning or it can start to be noisy and just get worse and worse but it will break at some point! When it does go it will brake up and you will loose all gears and the gearbox is scrap! What to do if the Gearbox starts to be noisy Best thing to do is try not and drive the vehicle and get the box off and get it repaired, it will cost between £250 - £350 inc parts & VAT (its costing me £200 inc VAT & parts but i am removing the box my self). VW/Seat dont seem to want anything to do with it tho its a common failure (but my car is 8 years old now!) Please add your thoughts and your experencies on this issue!

  6. On my last post i was told you can't put a center exhaust on it because of the wheel well, is there space around the wheel well where i could split the exhaust then get it through a center exhaust exit bumper?

  8. Right have done a bit of searching through old threads and I'm pretty sure my motor has packed in (on the n/s). It will click when operating the switches and it also gets warm (so must get power) but no movment in window. Tried the old 'hit the door' trick, no joy. Before I go for a new window does anyone else have any other ideas? If not does anyone have or know where to get a new motor from (other than dealer)??

  9. This is just superb Hakan! Looks so good on those wheels! If possible i would leave it with your folks and have them start and drive it once a month, get a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up. My old gti was barely used for the last two years I owned it. I just garaged it and took it out every now and then and it was fine. As long as its moved occassionally you should be all good Alex

  12. So, I've had this intermittent idling problem for a while now, many people have mentioned the MAP sensor, so I took mine out to inspect and clean! Rolled my car up to my ramps! Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Took out the sensor! All clogged up with oily crap! Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Cleaned it all up and boom! Engine idles spot on, lets hope it lasts Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr And now, my next problem was, I filled my washers up the other day, come to use them in the bad weather when I needed them most and there was no pressure! Looked at my bottle and it was bone dry! Clearly leaking so that got stripped out and down to repair too! Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Rubber seal had become dislodged in its whole and therefore leaking fluid past the pump, I cleaned up the bottle, inside took me ages! And I cleaned up the turret and inner wing aswell.... Bottle after cleaning.. Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Inner wing and turret before.. Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr And after a clean up and wax to protect! Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr (Some bits of dust in this photo off my old cloth but I soon cleaned it up with a new one haha!) Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr And all fitted back leak free and clean! Untitled by Ralphoto!, on Flickr Adam!

  16. My lupo revs up some times without moving and then kicks in I know it's clutch but I had clutch done 3 months ago were they spotted a small hole in the gearbox and said its nothing to worry about however it does leave gearbox oil on the drive way so it's not just a small leak, and now it jumps out of reverse. I'm just wondering if the gearbox oil could be getting into my clutch and making it slip or anything? Also best place to get my a recon gearbox if it is done with cheers.
