  1. haha im just messing about mate... mine was on the other end of the scale. i was one of the higher mileage ones about. mileage doesnt mean anything imo. if its been looked after etc then it doesnt really matter. i think one with mileage that low would possibly cause you issues more so than one with higher mileage. Its obviously been sat for long periods of time... what you have to consider is... possibly short journeys, can result in mechanical issues. how has it been stored? possibly holding water in area's it wont like. obviously loads of other factors too low mileage isnt always great. thats my thoughts anyway

  3. mk2 bushes wear becuase they get old, mine feels alright after 190k but i bet they have bee changed at somepoint. my Lupo SDI did feel a bit vauge and so did the 1.0 i test drove i think its just the way the lingages are designed, theres lots of joints which give lots of play! TDI's have a different gearbox to other lupos so i have no idea on that part, just giving my 3 pence. Also have you ever driven a Diesel before? their brakes are never as sharp as a petrol as the Pressure for the brake booster on a diesel is driven off the crankshaft, where as on a petrol its from intake manifold pressure. becuase of this, the Vacum pipes are longer and also would never get the pressure of the petrol intake manifold from a vac pump running at low revs. lupos are also prone to spliting those vacum lines, on the brake servo (Big black thing behind where the brake fluid res is) there should be a thick black pipe coming off and going around the back of the engine, follow that to where it goes into the Vacum pump, when the cars funning check its not hissing, if it is its leaking! also rear disks are meant to help! and a checkup on the brakes is always a good idea! enjoy your Tractor.

  11. whats so manly about havng tyres foulng your bodywork, such a stupid statement, if you want to run low wth wide wheels, then make it safe to do so, by having the arch lips folded back,

  12. We must have hundreds of Sad and Lazy customers then in that case... As a general thing we fit between 12-18 cruise control installations in our workshop each week! I've personally done a couple of cruise controls on friends Lupo/Arosa TDI's. They are actually a pretty usefull tool if you are A) Heavy footed and want to stick to 70mph (ish) on the motorway, or if you regularly go through Average Speed cameras whilst tired.

  13. Thanks for the awesome photo's Joe, love the sneaky Best Paint text Thanks Ashh! So yesterday I decided on a different show, it was a hard decision on what one to go to but I decided to go to GTI Spring Festival and what a good choice that was, the sun was shining, the weather was sweet, the atmosphere was busy and I even managed to pick up the "Best Paint" Trophy in the Show & Shine which I am completely over the moon with and was not expecting this at all. Not bad for a daily either..... The weekend started with me cleaning my car in the rain, couldn't even dry it as it was non stop raining in Swindon on Saturday, I woke up extra early Sunday morning so I could finish of the car - dedication! Here's a few pics: Cleaning at the show... Trophy!!

  14. Thanks mate. It wont be fitted for a few weeks yet but I can't wait either. Here's another mod we've been working on. The control surrounds have been painted white to match the interior with the lower section in black with red lettering.

  16. Great questions: 1. Generally speaking yes, parts aren't exactly an issue with Lupo's and if you look there's plenty of people manufacturing aftermarket replacements for bodywork as well as mechanical. I've never found it particularly hard to find a part. 2. Very very reliable. Even the little 1L's are reliable. I thrashed the arse off mine in truth and I never had ANY problems with the engine. I've seen newer cars struggling to start in the cold, my 1L Lupo started every day, first time. Great car, and I miss it a lot. I now have an SDI, which in similar fashion starts every time beautifully. In truth, the only thing that goes on Lupo's are disposable parts and you'll have that on any car. 3. No chance. They are considered a blot on Volkswagen's rather successful history. They were a car built to a budget and I've heard from more than one source that they used parts manufactured by another company on the cheap (not naming names) which is where the build quality issues arise from. 4. Check the gearbox obviously, also check the clutch, it shouldn't be stiff. Anything else should be easily noticeable, such as an EGR valve issues. Any misfiring might be a dodgy HT lead. Check for little bubbles of rusting on the roof (as said above near the gutter). You'll find some Lupos have absolutely no rust whatsoever, and others get quite a bit on the roof on one or both sides. Service history. Also, big one, quite serious, ask about the cambelt and ask if they have a stamp or invoice. I bought one with a cambelt that was only a year old, but the seller had no invoice, or stamp to prove this had been done. I took it to my garage and they couldn't verify the age of the belt so I just paid and had it done for peace of mind. The last thing you want is your cambelt going. Check internal light, heater controls, electric windows (if applicable) and central locking. If you want to be thorough, check the anti-hijack switch too. I didn't and mine was dicky till I got it fixed about 2 weeks ago. Check the spare wheel isn't bald (one I've seen a few times with second hand cars I've considered), that's 3 points straight off. Also there should be a warning triangle, it might not be there as my first Lupo didn't come with one but my second did. Obviously check the seats for rips in the cloth and also check for fag burns, on the floors and roof too. Good luck

  17. Have you actually driven an S? They're pretty nippy for their modest 75 horses & pretty good on fuel, it's the sports that are buggers for drinking the juice.
