Trout13
2001 1.4L 44KThe bite point is about 1/4 of an inch from the floor and creaks when letting the clutch out, the pedal is the same height as the brake pedal. So is the clutch on the way out or is it the pedal box. How can you eyeball the pedal box? do you have to take the steering column off or can you see it from somewhere else. If I do manage to see it what are the signs it needs replaced? Any advice greatly received.
Defcon5
You can adjust the clutch from under the bonnet, try that first
Trout13
Already done that, but it has dropped again and I noticed that the clutch pedal is now about an inch lower than the brake.Pedal box??

Trout13
it was indeed the pedal box but also a heavy clutch. My mate who would normally fix it is on holiday so £150.05 + vat to supply and fit pedal box from a small garage. £320 for clutch so told them that I will put up with a heavy clutch for the time being.Reasonable prices??? Defcon5
Will changing the clutch actually make it any lighter?
Trout13
Got the box changed today, daughter away to collect the car, let you know how the clutch feels later.
joeyjojojunior
Will be interested to hear the outcome as we've just bought a 52 plate 1.4S and it has exactly the same feel and creak to the clutch as you're describing! JamesTdi
Heavy clutch wont have anything to do with the clutch, either release bearning or cable. But no lupo has a light clutch

Trout13
New pedal box made a huge difference, bite point is where it should be, no grinding into gears etc. Clutch still heavy but It feels like a clutch again.
