  1. So the mechanism to make the move passenger move forward (to allow access to the back seat) started giving trouble. Sometimes the seat seemed to be stuck in place (and the lever/handle didn't seem to be doing anything) and at other times the seat would not stay securely in place and would jump forward under heavy breaking. As a result of this I've been fiddling about with the handle a lot recently and probably too forcefully at times. The handle eventually just came off in my hand. Basically I'm wondering if repair at a reasonable cost is possible (I can't really see how myself) or should I just look for a replacement seat?
  2. Is the replacement part the upgraded pedal box?

I'm somewhat confused now - the pedal box was never upgraded and yet you can get a new pedal box that is much stronger Where do you get the new stronger ones if VW never actually made an upgraded one? Is from another model?

I did find a thread in relation to adjusting the clutch cable here: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16242&hl Unfortunately the pictures are no longer available so I'm still unsure about how to do it.

Okay, thanks. I'll keep an eye on it and be prepared to fork out for a replacement at some stage. Do you know if it's possible to replace the original one with a stronger pedal box?

    1. Was the weak pedal box on the Arosa ever upgraded? I have a 2004 Arosa 1.0 MPI (50k miles) and am just curious if I should budget for a possible replacement of the pedal box at some stage. I think I may have read that the later cars had a stronger box but I'm not sure if that's the case. 2. The clutch biting point is very high on my car (but clutch is working fine). That is not a problem per se but I bought the car for my GF to learn in and she finds other cars much easier to drive due to the clutch biting point. Has anyone successfully lowered the biting point of their clutch by adjusting the clutch cable? If so, could you explain exactly how it is done? Many thanks.
  8. £45?! Yeah that's quite a lot for inputting some numbers into a database. I was surprised there was no charge at all though. Next up is some nice OEM alloys...although the chances of finding some good ones here in Ireland are slim enough...
  9. Agnew Seat in Belfast sorted me out with the code and free of charge too. Very nice of them
  10. Sure enough the CD Unit went in as a straight swap (thanks) but there is a security code required. I rang the breakers to get the details of the donor car and they told me that the unit is in fact from a 2005 Seat Ibiza...anyway they gave me the registration and chassis number. The only problem I might have (according to the breaker) is that the donor car is a Northern Ireland registered car and as I am in the Republic of Ireland a dealer here will refuse to retrieve the code for me and tell me to contact a dealer in NI
  11. Okay, thanks Matt and yes it makes complete sense I guess I'll have to get the donor car's reg off the breaker and ring a dealer about the code.
  12. Hi there, I'm a new member. Recently acquired a 2004 Mk2 with the cassette player in the dash. I picked up an OEM Alana CD Unit from a 2003 car. Should the installation be a simple matter of swapping the units around? I've never done this before so any advice would be appreciated. Also, will the CD Unit require a security code? I got it from a breakers so don't have one. Many thanks, Dan
