  1. Thanks for the reply! I don't know what to say other than I hope mine is not that! ? I got the car from a dealer, comes with 3 months warranty and I can take it to any vat registered garage when I rang up to activate it today, I'm taking it my a local mechanic I sometimes use so he can put it on a ramp and check for anything loose or in general! if he can't find anything I will take it straight to a garage! And report the problem! Other than that I don't know what to do apart from keep driving it! When yours started playing up did the noise go when you moved the gear stick atall? thanks again for reply
  2. Hello, I have been here for help on my Lupo before and you have been good, I am having a problem with my polo, I put a thread up on club polo but no one replied, i was wondering if you would be able to help me as it has the same engine as the lupo tdi i think. So the other day i bought a polo tdi pd 1.4, The car runs smooth and spot on apart from when in neautral or certain gears the is a noise/vibration, The noise goes if you move the gear lever to the right but once you let go it starts again! Its bugging me as i don't know what it is, its like the gearstick vibrates and increased noise comes from the engine bay and then when you put presure on it and move it to the right it goes. sorry if its not explained well and sorry if i shouldn't be asking on club lupo. please help.

  4. Hello, Quick question, Car needs a new rear exhaust back box/silencer, All I can find is the scorpion ones, does anyone know where I can get a standard replacement, I'm not planning on keep the car much longer and I don't want to be spending loads on an exhaust! Thanks
  5. It shouldn't still be the gearbox as it had all the bearings rebuilt, the noise only really occurs when it's warm, and sometimes is quiet and sometimes is loud, and I have driven a polo and my gearbox is a lot smoother just doesn't do the noise mine makes on idle in neutral, could it just be gearbox chatter? I'm lost, surely if it was wheel bearing it would do the noise all the time? But I'll try what you said! Thanks! It's annoying me, then again at work today my colleague has a 13 plate Mitsubishi l200 (completely different cars I know) and his car makes a slight noise when the clutch is out and it's warm, and his is on 13,000 miles so could it just be where the gearbox has no pressure applied hence why the noise stops when clutch is pressed, sorry if I'm talking aloud of gobble!
  6. Please can someone help, So I have changed clutch and release bearing, had the gearbox reconditioned, and changed clutch cable, yet the noise still occurs, exactly the same just a little less quieter, The car drives great so I'm beginning to think it's just the car, it's just bugging me, had the gearbox reconditioned and clutch done and bearing yet it still occurs, does anyone else's do this! If it does do it to other people I'll forget about it but it's seriously annoying me now, 500 pound later and still there! Please help!
  7. I didn't ask, but I phoned them today and they said if it's just bearings it will cost 340 pound! ? Hmmmm! Another quote - 295 pounds, but warranty only covers bearing and seals where as the other one covers everything! Or - A recon box, comes with 12 months unlimited miles warranty - 385 pounds!
  8. Thanks for help, I'm taking it to get rebuilt at a local gearbox place, Bit annoying as I have to take the box out again! ? They offer a 12 months warranty so I'll have feedback if anything gives up in it again! They are doing a free strip and Quote so that's good! Does anyway have an idea of how much I could be paying, or how much I should pay up to!
  9. It goes as soon as you hit the biting point on the clutch, when i let the clutch out fast the noise is louder than if i let the clutch out very slow, & i drove the car earlier and im starting to hear a noise now while driving, mostly when i let off the gas pedal in gear the transmission makes a whining sound, not quite a whining sound but cant describe it any other way, then in neutral now i have noticed if i rev it the noise increases i can hear the noise up to 12000 rpm then the engine sound takes over it, but its defiantly not a healthy sound. And yes, changed the clutch release bearing, old one didn't even look to bad and when i drained gearbox oil looked clean, had the car 3K Miles starting to think they changed the oil and put an additive in to quiet down the noise as when i purchased the car sounded healthy and smooth.
  10. Flywheel isn't a dual mass one, and I couldn't tell you, as far as I know Lupo's don't have them, I know mine doesn't! Haha! Im 99% sure it doesn't as I can't hear it while increasing the revs, I think I'm going to have to take the box out again and take it to a specialist! ? Do you think I'll be okay to drive it, went to Sheffield (110 Miles) on it last week which was probably a silly idea! But gearbox is slick and very smooth! It's just the noise! ? And the old clutch looks okay, just normal wear! Thanks for getting back to me! And I'll check with mate about clutch Spring he helped me/did most of it!
  11. Hello, so about 3 weeks ago my sport was making a nasty noise, sounded like clutch release bearing as was vibrating a little through pedal and the noise went while the clutch was in. Yesterday (Saturday 4th) I changed my clutch & clutch release bearing & changed the gearbox oil (the old gearbox oil looked quite clean which I was expecting it to look horrible) After changing the clutch and release bearing and oil the noise is still there, and goes when I put my foot on the clutch, I can't really hear it when driving and it doesn't seem to get louder as I go up the revs like my last LUPO when the gearbox was shagged. The noise sounds exactly like a bad clutch release bearing but maybe a tad louder and depending on how fast I let the clutch out the noise of it differs, in neutral if I let the clutch out slow the noise is quiet, let the clutch out fast and the noise is loud! The LUPO is a 1.4 16V sport (The box is defiantly a sport one in the car as the ratios are short! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks - Ralph!
  12. Thanks for getting back to me, and that's good, Saved me buying another litre. And I will do, I'll let you know how I get on! ?
  13. Hello, was woundering if anyone could give me some advice. I'm changing the gearbox oil on Saturday, I went to halfords to get 75w90 but they only had clearance which was 2 bottles, then they had 1 bottle of 80w90, I bought it all as it was only £5 a bottle and you can't go wrong. I'm not sure how much oil the LUPO sport box will take but if it's more than 2 litres can I add the 80w90? Will it course any harm? Thanks- Ralph!
