  1. have you got th rear adjusters with this kit?

  4. mine was doing this for a while when I first had it . it you get to the motor the two thickest wires to it are the motor wires , get a probe tester and give positive feed to operate the motor. at least you will know if its the motor. the mechanism usually fails as the plastic cog wears or the cable looses its lubrication and sticks . if examining the mechanism it looks in good condition , take it apart and fill all the moving areas with loads of lubrication grease. This will also give another chance t test the motor with probe tested independant of the mechanism. if the motor works and mechanism looks ok and moved freely 9/10 it will work fine. Did ths with moth of mine and there both perfect now , when i had the car the pass side didnt work and the drivers side was sticky. it all depeds how able and confident you are in your skills. good luck....
  5. I have been heavily persuaded to put some pics up of our Lupo. I initially wanted a really cheap car to run to use daily for work which was good on fuel and cheap on insurance. We've got loads of Vw in the family so know all about their build quality, but ive been amazed how good this car is so decided to get it the way I wanted it - a bit individual but still cute. started life as a bog standard Lupo TDi sport , a bit rough round the edges and needed a major clean inside and out . didn't bother with any before pictures but just cracked on and two weeks later got it looking like this. It had full interior and carpets removed all washed and valeted including the headlining and the c pillar covers. Exterior had a full detail when I first had it and just tried to maintain it as it is for now till some areas of paint are to be done at a later date. Then onto correcting the defects so drivers check strap replaced, passenger electric window mechanism changed , drivers electric window switch replaces , passenger electric mirror glass replaced ( as heated element wasnt working) , cup holder replaced ( that reminds me to order a second one and install ), A full service including oil , gearbox and brake fluid change , all filters and air con re-gas and evaporator changed. The intention was just to keep it standard but the sport suspension was rubbish so there started the mods and the feminie touch. Ap coilovers, new suspension arms , new roll bar links, a touch darker windows, a touch or red here and there and some well suited , lightweight split rims and nice grippy tyres make it fun to drive, Tried to keep it practical with sensible ride heights front and rear ( the boot is used, lol ) and keeping rear wiper . would like to do a few more things just to make it perfect for me , like the small areas of bodywork, and would ideally like a nice leather interior in the near future but for now its pretty cool - well I think so anyway
  6. yeah its simply an additive in the fuel tank that is meant to clean through the fuel system and possibly do something once combusted , i cant remember the full literature on the container . zx1 lube is an oil additive that reduced friction against moving metal parts , i figured as well as being good for the engine it would be better lubrication for the little turbo and make it work a bit more efficiently. it seems to make a difference for me as i used these approx 1500 miles after a service.
  7. Bases on advice and recommendations from a local garage my car had treatment with forte diesel treatment and zx1 ultralube ( engine oil lubricant additive ) on a lupo tdi , the economy has improved a little bit . Doing the same daily commutes . previously 63mpg , now 68 mpg (comb ). easily over 70mpg on a recent trip to Manchester and as far as I know its standard. Has anyone had similar positive experiences with such products? or do most peops now bother ?
  8. TDI sport definately. a remap will give the power of the 100bhp sport with extra torque, if you want a centre exhaust that can be fitted to a tdi no problem. and yeah lower tax , lower insurance and much better on fuel are the advantages that make it a no brainer between the two. If you didnt like a diesel engine noise it wouldnt be in consideration I would have thought. Just it may be hard finding a good one. you will probably find a 1.4 16v easier for a cheaper price.
  9. Well , I went to the extra expense in the end and went for the best 1.4 tdi I could find ( within a reasonable price ) and am impressed as to fuel economy. Mixed driving it does 60 mpg easily and on motorway driving ive maxed out 68mpg ( with a bit to spare ). why did I not know about these lupo tdi's before I ask myself. will probably get a thread up and running soon after deciding what look/theme to go for.
  10. I want to get one , went to see a 1.4 tdi yesterday in liecester , some Iraqi lad was selling it , its on gumtree. It was a real shed , so dirty unbelievable , and rust on 4 areas, the chap described it as very good condition and its anything but that. oil leaks galore especially round egr valve, , water leak from rad and sounded worse than others ive heard. So am considering a petrol one instead now. There arent many tdi out there and think some are unreasonably priced.
  11. im going to fabricate one myself. I made one for my mk2 16v golf , used a template from a mk4 golf and it was perfect ( then made 2 others for friends of mine ) . materials cost around 330 ish and then a bit of skillin ig welding. 3mm thick Ali checker plate of course to keep weight to the minimum with max protection
  12. hi For all you 1.0 litre and 1.4 litre petrol owners out there, just wondering in real terms how much are you getting mpg out of your cars? in mainly town driving . just wondering which engine choice to go for out of the two? Would love to run a GTI but cant afford that.
  13. nice base to start off with . Im about to get another lupo this weekend, a nice tdi if all goes to plan. 1st and second jobs are what youve done, after that an ally sump guard is next on the list.
