  1. I just replaced the temp sensor and the car misfires as usual. I've now given up completely. I'll sell this car as soon as I can and I won't buy an old VW again.

  3. Hello mate, That's interesting. I just ordered a new temp sensor. I don't think I'm going to need another tb, though, as I've tried three different ones with the same result but thank you anyway I just had a look at the protocol from the VAG garage and apart from the misfiring there are two values that are slightly off. The engine load at idle is 30%. According to the mechanic it should be below 20%. Also, the intake pressure is 500mBar when it should be 240-420mbar.
  4. Today I had VAG check the car and they couldn't say what is causing the problems. They did a whole bunch of tests and discovered that the engine is misfiring intermittently on cylinder 3. They told me it's probably caused by either: 1. A bad injector 2. Intermittent loss of compression in cylinder 3 (is that even possible?) I really really hope it's just the injector. I'm so tired of this car right now, but if I could at least get it running properly I would probably be able to stand all the other small issues. A new injector is £180 so I'm going for a second hand one for £40, but first I'm going to ask the mechanic how they figured out which cylinder is misfiring. Then I'll swap the no. 3 injector with one of the others and see if the problem follows. By the way, is cylinder 3 the third from the left or from the right if you're standing in front of the car looking at the engine?

  6. That sounds interesting. Resetting cam timing, does that mean physically aligning the camshafts or is it some sort of Vag-Com command?
  7. I did a compression test yesterday and all four cylinders reached 14 bar (~200 psi). One more thing off the list then. [X] Clean throttle body [X] Do a throttle body alignment [X] Change oil & oil filter [X] Try injector cleaner [X] Replace air filter [X] Replace spark plugs [X] Replace HT leads and coil pack [X] Try another throttle body [X] Do a compression test [ ] Check/replace MAP sensor [ ] Clean/replace EGR valve [ ] Check the cam timing - How do you check that? [ ] Look for air leaks (breather hoses, vacuum hoses, brake servo, etc) - Is there a list of all vacuum hoses so I can just order new ones? [ ] Replace vacuum pipe to the fuel rail? [ ] Replace fuel filter Thank you I will try that as soon as I can. I've recently noticed another strange behavior which I think is caused by the same problem. When driving slowly (around 30mph) in 3rd 4th or 5th gear at low throttle the car feels kind of jerky. It feels like short, intermittent misfires. As long as I'm accelerating or driving fast it's smooth though.
  8. Thank you for your reply. I got another reply in the other thread as well. Let me summarize: [X] Clean throttle body [X] Do a throttle body alignment [X] Change oil & oil filter [X] Try injector cleaner [X] Replace air filter [X] Replace spark plugs [X] Replace HT leads and coil pack [X] Try another throttle body [ ] Do a compression test [ ] Check MAP sensor [ ] Check the cam timing - How do you check that? 9. I haven't had a chance to do a compression test, but I've more or less excluded the possibility that my throttle body is faulty. I just borrowed and tested two more TBs with exactly the same results. Could the gas pedal somehow cause the throttle valve's nervous behavior?
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a throttle body for my AUA engine. My current one is called: Does anyone have a matching TB for sale? Cheers
  11. It turned out to be the pressure switch. When I unplugged the wire oil was coming out of the plug. I replaced the switch and the problem was solved.
  12. Exacly. I thought it was a GTI bumper when I bought the car, but I realized GTIs are wider and their rear bumpers wouldn't fit a standard Lupo. It's indeed a Rieger bumper/lip I've got.
  13. I've got a Remus backbox with centered exhaust tips and I'm pretty sure it doesn't mess with the spare wheel. I'll check when I get home today. This is what it looks like:
  14. Yeah, I just found the guide on how to mend the window buttons. Fortunately Lupo spare parts seem to be cheap. I bought a new washer pump for about £15.
  15. I don't know if it's bad luck or if the Lupo is a poor car, but it's given me quite a few headaches this winter. The throttle response is really wierd EPC light used to flash a lot and the Check engine light came on a few times during winter. The engine decided to shut down one cylinder a few times. The windscreen washer pump gave up The power windows work when they feel like it The remote unlocks both doors but the passenger door usually locks itself again after less then a second. Why would it do that? When it was really cold condensation in the oil sump (or somewhere in that area) froze and prevented the oil from reaching the head and valves which caused a distinct valve noise and a flashing oil pressure light. Fortunately I was only a few hundred metres from my home so I pushed the car back and let it sit until the outside temperature was above 0 degrees. Yesterday the oil pressure light started flashing again but now I think it's the oil pressure sensor that's busted. Apart from all that it's a lovely little car
