To get to 160 honest hp from the original 125, you need serious headwork(port, polish, maybe bigger valves), new cams and extractor manifold..

All that should be able to bring the 35hp's with a good map. But i don't know if you can work with the original ECU, or if a aftermarket option is required to be able to do proper mapping.

Take a look around the forum and google as well, "Lupo GTI tuning" is good search term.

Turbo/Supercharger is of course another route.. also available to read about here in the forums.

"200bhp can be done from the GTI motor. The works Polo kit cars made about 215 - 220bhp. The only way to get it though is revs. You need 9000. This is big bucks."

More power from a fwd drive is not so fun.

Don't forget, more power = better brakes, so cost for that too
