MOT done today, and it failed on emissions. Done all the usual EGR, plugs, leads, coil pack, etc etc. Tester says its dumping a siht load of fuel. Lambda probe maybe?, what's the average cost for a dignostics test. Cheers.

Lots of cash for a VAG diagnostic, I have an EPC light showing and briefly yesterday an emissions light also showing. A plug in by my local auto electrician shows no fault despite the EPC light. I have had emissions issues with a Focus ST170 in the past and my MOT tester recommended a dose of "cat cleaner" [from any motor factor.] I used this 2 years running and it really does work. This is, at under £20 a quick fix and if your car only does short runs the most likely issue rather than anything major, its certainly something I will use in the week before my next MOT. The other thing to look at if there is an air/fuel mismatch is the air filter

It was just an observation, that way I could advise you on the steps to take. As failing an emissions test and a misfire although they can be related they are still different problems with different solutions.

But you have some sort of attitude problem.

Never got it scanned from vcds, got a cheap code reader. Emissions are perfect now thanks to Weslangdon for the cat cleaner idea. The reader gave me 301, 351, 352. Misfire cyl 1 & 2 and coil pack. I only bought the coil pack last year.
