OEM Stereo

Recommended Posts

Due to the mileage I'm going to keep this Lupo GTI standard, however I'd like to upgrade the stereo. What OEM models fit that are considered an upgrade?

Was just thinking of simply trading out the single CD player to the 6 CD changer but I fancy going a little further. I remember you could get the GTI with sat nav but since the development of the VW range just wondering what else is out there.

Thanks

Sam

I think the MFD200 or something like that fits. That's a bit of an upgrade.

But oem :P

but unintuitive menu system designed by someone stuck in the 80s, unimpressive sat nav software, a very small screen and a pretty limited functionality....

I have a VW Individual. Bacsically a Becker Monza in a VW coat taken from a VW Polo Dune 9n.

The RCD200 is a good OEM unit, but has an issue in the Lupo whereby it turns itself off after 59 minutes as it is looking for a CANBUS signal.

Excuse missing tray front. All fixed now...

The mfd is an amazing unit, worth the money it makes the music so much crisper, although its not your modern day satnav it does the job and looks perfect in place in the dash!! id have another without hesitation.

Yes, but it has a problem with the display breaking up in hot conditions. Standard problem for Becker of that era apparently.

You probably stand a better chance of getting on mainland Europe as apparently in the UK they were only issued in the 9n Polo Dune.

No offence, but really, the MFD isn't worth the money at all. Not when compared to some seriously good units that are similar price and will blow it away spec wise and provide similar quality audio. Really, the only benefit of the MFD, is that it's OEM and so looks good. If that is something that important, then you will struggle to find another unit that looks properly OEM.

My previous stereo wasn't bad looking and was super flush with the dash, but I still can't say it looked OEM.
