My Lupo GTI

This is my Raven Blue Lupo GTI.. Bought as seen. Ive been looking for one for about a year now at an affordable price for a student, was really looking for a black one but couldnt find one. Then in the space of a week i found two lupo's in my village in good ol norfolk.

I went and spoke to the guy, he was looking to rebuild it but he said hes happily sell it on. So £1300 later (sooooo so cheap) im the proud owner of a lupo.

being a student it will be a long process of modding the car but it will get done over time :D the car has had an engine rebuild before i brought the car.

bad points of the car

gear box is very clunky and loud

rusty brakes

very dirty

missing towing eye covers

wheels are in bad condition

rust on passenger door (only bubbling a small amount)

rust on boot handle

now introducing my new car :D

Rust on the door?....They should be aluminium...the purple thing is for vag com to read codes sir

It isn't rust, it is corrosion.

Absolutely fantastic buy at £1300, it lets me overlook the rapeyness.

Fancy swapping it for a specced up TDI ?

yes sir. Tomorrow i will take a few photos of the bad bits. You are right though they are aluminium. I had an inkling that was what it was :D thank you.

yep my bad. yeah i was so happy with it. yeah tbh i didnt expect it to be a perfect car for £1300 baring in mind decent lupo gti's go for £3000 upwards.

sorry man this car is to stay with me for a good few years.

Whaaat, 1300 for a GTi and Raven Blue? That's a great project car.

Yeah when he said that straight away i said ill take it hahaha. it will got a few good things to happen to it. will be a similar build to 99hjhm's lupo gti OEM+ but different still if you get my drift.

little update

so this happened in the horrific rain last monday :(

tumblr_nbee4qhWeD1syas0qo7_250.jpg

which meant time for new LUPO........... Not quite

as uncle is on holiday i cannot get him to do the gearbox which means not much has happened.

so i decided to give the little beast a clean. the car had sat under a tree for ages the previous owner said. it had sap, dirt, grime all over the car, was awful.

almost 10 evenings later and a sore pair of blue hands.

doing a panel a night pretty much

all that was used was. clear t-cut, then rubbing compound, blue t-cut

its clean.

please excuse the photos using my iphone will invest in a camera for future.

Nice car and bargain at 1300! I thought mine was cheap when i got it for 1800. Nice job on cleaning it up paintwork looks in good condition.

yeah there is the usual stone chips and that for an 11 year old car. bits of paint coming off around the edge of the door think thats because someone tried taking the drivers door off and lost the original pin, so it doesnt quite line up perfect. plus the massive bang when you open the door.

yeah man its taken a loong time! still getting a few parts resprayed. probably the whole front end and the doors.......... **** it might aswell get it all done while im there if im doing that much ahaha.

lovely colour :)

cheers man

small update.... Gear box has been done..... Not quite. spoke to a friend who currently works at VW he has informed me that the 2003 lupo gti develop a loud gear box. it is a common fault and is nothing to worry about. this is good so that will be £600 to spend on other things.

still havent got the car in my possession as im in southampton and car is in norfolk. i will be driving it down one sunday so if people are up for it could do a mini meet at somewhere like south mimms on the m25?

HT Leads

Coil Pack

Cambelt

Idler

Head Gasket & Head Bolts

Radiator

Then came the problem of fixing some of the more cosmetic problems.

Broken Sun visors

Gear gaiter

Seats

Parcel shelf

aerial

Genuine centre caps

Carpet

Brand New towing eye covers

Brand new filler flap.

Some changes ive made over the two years, not many at all....

New Seats

LED interior Light

LED Number Plate nights

Its a shame i Havent been able to do more to the car so far i have many plans to come and one which has been done already.

I was bored of the engine failing on me. So after a bit of help from someone I sourced an Engine with 90k miles on it and have just had it rebuilt by Auto Shack in Ipswich.

The engine was rebuilt,
