mickster
Finally passed my driving test and stumbled across this forum in my quest to find a Lupo as a first car. Naturally I had to join!I fell in love with the Lupo back in the early 2000s when I saw a Raven Blue GTI at the Haywards Heath VW dealers (my Mum was having her 6n2 Polo serviced). I've always been a VW fan - my uncle's first car was a red mk 2 golf which he drove like a nutter, something that had a profound effect on the 7/8 year old me at the time!So yeah, hi I guess and if anyone knows where I can get a seemingly ultra rare Raven Blue GTI let me know
Mattz341
Nice to see someone from down south!!! I used to live in brighton (back in ringmer now, just outside of Lewes)! When you get it would live too meet up!!
mickster
Lol tell me about it - barely any Lupos for sale down here either which has been annoying. I did see a silver GTI parked up at the Withdean sports centre a month or two back, first I've seen down here, and there's a tasty Arosa sport on the way to Burgess Hill I often pass I'll update the thread when I get one, at the moment it's looking likely to be a black GTI. I'd love to see your orange GTI in the flesh, even if by the looks of your thread it's still in need of some TLC!
Mattz341
Yeah she needs loads of tlc, been getting quotes to get the exterior all fixed so that ball is rolling!! I'm really excited about having a shiny car again lol!! Mechanically she's alright though, needs an air con regas and I need to pull my finger out and service her but she's alright for now!! There's a laaaavely red gti in Lewes that I occasionally see parked near my work, it's got arosa rear lights tho (don't like them personally) btw are you on the lupo/arosa parts page on Fb? Have a look, might help your search. And when you do go for a gti drop me a message! I'd be quite happy to help out lol!

Mattz341
Haha trust me she's not, when she's been resprayed she will be thanks!!

I'd be quite happy to help out lol! It'll look awesome once it's done but looks like resprays are so expensive I've kept my eye on that fb page but tbh it mostly seems to be people scouting for interest rather than actively trying to sell their vehicles.Yeah I'm not into the Arosa rear lights either. I really like Lupos in red but looks like I'm off to Leeds on Friday to buy a black GTI if all goes to plan! Could be an interesting journey back as it's now been a month since I've driven and I learnt via a semi-intensive course over 3 weeks. If I crash I'll be telling them to save the car and not worry about me Then maybe a decent raven one will turn up in the next few years and I'll switch, might be best I'm not in charge of such a rare car at this stage lol... Mattz341
There's a raven on eBay now!! I've always wanted a raven, I got quotes to spray mine to raven but it was about 6k!! The 2k is just to blow over the outer and tidy it up :/ best of luck dude! Whereabouts in Brighton are you??
Mattz341
And agree about the FB page , it has it's uses but it's not amazing.
mickster
Yeah it's also on here buddy, call me cautious but I didn't like the lack of solid info I could find online about how mods to the chassis could invalidate insurance/get you into trouble with VOSA. It's probably fine and I'll be jealous of whoever buys it, but I'd rather not risk it Lol I did some very minor research into resprays for the same reason, saw the prices and though sod that!!I'm in Patcham, closest bit of it towards town, used to live near Preston Park though. Mattz341
Ah I know patcham, got a mate who I go to uni with there, you've probably heard him, used to have a very loud civic and now has a newer type R. I lived in coldean last year with uni guys but back home this year due to guys going there seperate ways! There's a build thread on here for the raven gti, guy who owned it wasn't a fool and a chassis notch is a simple cut that means the drive shaft wouldn't knock, wouldn't be noticeable to anybody unless you were comparing two Gti's together at the same time lol! mickster
Ahh cool, which of the unis are you at? I wanted a change from Brighton so went elsewhere for uni and have only really just moved back! Lol I'll keep an ear out Yeah I've no doubt that raven GTI would be amazing, Isle of Wight is easier to get to too but I've pretty much committed to this black one now! The course I'm on is written and accredited by Brighton but it's actually ran at northbrook college in shoreham. Drop us a message when you get it, would be awesome to meet another gti owner and Check out your purchase lol!

mickster
Well I got it! Drove back from Leeds via an overnight stay in the midlands to see an old uni mate. Including my trip to Burgess Hill and back today I've already done 340 miles according to the mile counter since collecting on Friday evening The previous owner made me promise to keep the cars name, so let me introduce Luigi (and please ignore the crap parking, seems I've forgotten how to park ):I meant to take some decent photos today but forgot, it's a standard black GTI tbh so not much to show. I bloody love it though
Mattz341
Awesome! Hopefully I'll see you about Brighton then! best of luck with it! What's the count on it now??
lupogtiboy
Well I must say I'm disappointed with both of you, I went to Brighton yesterday shopping in the rain, and didn't see either of you! I did see a nice 8P A3 slammed on BBS's though..... I was even in my GTI, parked on the roof at Churchill Square where it scrapes the centre box on the last ramp onto the roof! rockey5uk2001
i've got to admit i have traveled some distance a few times now to buy a car, and I love the drive back with a smile on my face!
mickster
It's a few hundred miles short of 80,000 miles, tbh the (relatively) low mileage was one of the main reasons I bought this one, all the rest advertised pretty much had 100k on the clocks.Sorry lupogtiboy, I was playing family taxi driver yesterday!! Was surprised how roomy the car is for 3 adults and a child actually, the boot even managed a week's worth of food from Asda Yeah the long drive back was epic, particularly since most of the journey was in the evening/night when the roads were fairly empty! I'm itching to do more long journeys actually, just got to come up with some excuses to drive places

Mattz341
Haha Martin you're not low enough! I can't get into either of the Churchill square car parks! surprised you paid the price! I bus it now because it's outrageous! Any who, I'm all the way up just south of Bedford at Woburn centre parcs! I saw you're not low enough, when I get back I'm raising mine up as it's getting ridiculous having to crawl and scrape over everything!! lupogtiboy
Mine was my daily so don't run it too low, plus my front shocks have seen better days and need changing.. I doubt that they would even adjust anymore! Plus I was running 16'' BBS's for a while and have buggered my front arches where the edge of the tyre catches the wing, oops! I had to pay the extortionate fees to park as I live about 35 miles away, tho to be fair, it was only £3 which is similar to park in Crawley, we only went to Brighton as there aren't many good shops around here, and we quite often have a browse in Snooper's Paradise.
