Hi,

I have recently bought Seat Arosa 1.4S Auto (2005) model. I cannot find any information on whether there is a 'lights on' warning alarm in built in the car ?

Does anyone know whether 1.4S Auto version have a factory fitted headlamp on warning alarm ?

Thanks

Optimus

hi..thanks for your reply...

i cannot hear any alarm sound when i open the door and leave the parking lights on...

also when you say they are behind the clock do you mean it can somehow be opened and accessed to see if they are working ??

appreciate your help

cheers,

Activating the parking lights without the ignition on will still sound the lights on buzzer.

No, if the ignition is on and the lights on, then there will be no buzzer, it only sounds if the lights are on with the ignition off. On my GTI, the interior light comes on when I remove the ignition key, not sure if other models do the same though....Also, the interior light will come on with the ignition on and the door open, unless you have the interior light in the off position.

most likely your microswitch in the door lock mechanism has died

any clue if this is easily fixed/repaired and whether it could be done without taking to a garage...

also i did try to see if there are any swtiches in the door or the body around the door but cannot see anything looking like a switch..

^just where i wanted to get. It's normal for the light to go on when you pull the key, but does it go on when you open the door with the engine started?

yes the cabin lights switch on as soon as I open the door with or without engine running...

yes that is what my original query was about - how to sound the alarm with ignition off and lights on....

please can someone help me on this...

i've tried to look around for the microswitch in and around the door area but can't find anything that resembles a switch...moreover the cabin lights switch on when i open the door so I think the trigger mechanism is fine...

everything seems to be in place except for the alarm sounds...i also noticed that the seat-belt warning alarm also does not sound with car moving at reasonable speed...

You shouldn't have a seat belt alarm, that's quite a newish addition to cars, I've never seen or heard of a lupo or arosa with one unless its Japanese or Swedish perhaps.....???

It sounds to me that the buzzer on the dash pod is at fault, seeing as you say the interior light goes on and off with the door opening and closing. The microswitch that operates the lights and buzzer is built into the door lock, so no external switches.

ok..that sounds promising...is there a way to easily replace the buzzer or do i have to take it to a garage...

any pointers to a video or guide on how to open the dash would be helpful...

Thanks,

Shishir

ok..i've just noticed that the internal cabin light does not switch on while opening the driver side door but it does when the passenger side door is open....can this be the reason why the warning alarm is not sounding..

Yes, the microswitch on the drivers door is knackered by the sounds of it, best way to fix is a new door lock, but these are around £120 ish from vw/seat.

The lights on buzzer only works when you leave the lights on (sidelights, main lights, parking lights etc...), take the key out of the ignition and open the door. The buzzer uses the door switch to know when the door is open to sound the buzzer to remind you to turn the lights off. If the switch is broken, the car 'thinks' the door is shut all the time, so the interior light won't come on, nor will the lights on buzzer sound. The door needs to be open and the key removed from the ignition to operate the lights on buzzer, its not just from the key being removed from the ignition.

thanks again for your explanation...however the interior lights come on as soon as I pull the key out without opening the door...the interior light then switch off after about 10-20 seconds and come on again if the door is opened...i would have expected the buzzer to go off as soon as I pull out the key just like the interior lights which come on as soon as the key is removed...(atleast that's how it works in my toyota Auris..)
