Lupo GTI - Buying Advice

To be honest, as much as I love my GTI; I don't believe they are worth the price they demand, so an overpriced model like that is a bit of a giggle.

...but if people are willing to pay...

If you've got 5k to spend I don't see a point at looking at cars @2.5k(ish).

At the end of the day it will cost a lot more to make a "dog" a gem. Just buy the gem in the first place.

What do you guys think about higher mileage examples, those with 100k+ miles. If they have a FSH are they still okay?

As long as the body is rot free and the engine/drivetrain has been properly maintained there's no need to run a mile.

Ive bought mine a few weeks back with 120k on the clock and dare i say atm everything is running fine(touch wood) so as long as they have been looked after i dont see a problem.

If anybody is seriously interested in the silver GTI Y737... linked previously, I'll be happy to go and look at it for them and take more pics as I'm just five miles away from it.

Mines done 104k and runs so quiet and smooth, full VW and VW specialist services. As mentioned if well maintained they are great, cambelt waterpump etc needs to be done as that's a £400 job if it's all genuine parts like mine was. Ive spent about a £1k + on mine just to get it back to a nice standard.

Wanna buy it?

Haha

Evening guys,

A very quick question.

I surf quite regularly and have a 9'2'' surfboard.

I'd be looking to carry it out roof bars on the lupo (when I get one);

- Do the roof bars mount securely onto the car? Particularly concerned about the back, because I presume the front wrap round to the door?

- would the surfboard be too long to carry on the lupo? Would there be too much overhang?

Thank you

Arrows on the upper door shut and on the top edge of the rear window glass mark where to fit the bars.

If you buy OE bars you (should) get a torque key to ensure they are tight enough.

As for the "long board", trial and error and what you are happy with.

Check laws for overhang, but I think you are OK as long as it is correctly marked.

I have OE bars and had surf boards on the Lupo no problem.

2004 GTI 90K

New belts , water pump and brake discs being fitted as we speak.

A/C service

6 months tax and 12 month MOT. Probably the best around for sale.

PM me if interested. I will include the bars in the sale and Polo GTi polished split rims.

Now on PH with Kelpies behind.

Lochore meadows. Even have the pictures. Lime green Lupo with yellow board. Got some funny looks on the way through Fife.
