I used to own a polo gti, and now own a lupo gti.

I've always assumed they were the same engine with a different gearbox.

But I've read some posts on here that say the bhp was slightly different and that one had vvt and one didn't.....

Could someone who knows more than me explain what the differences are between the two?

Thanks

Both have VVT, as you say both blocks are AVY but have different shape bellhousings meaning gearboxes are not interchangeable. Power output is identical I believe. Lupo Gti does seem notably quicker than a polo 6n2 but I always put this down to the lupo being lighter.

Yes engines are the same, But the lupo feels so much better to drive I got to drive both in one day ,a polo GTI to work then a Lupo GTi home. Lupo feels better in everyway even the clutch and gear change is better

Wont it feel quicker due to the extra cog? Gears will have shorter ratios for quicker acceleration but ultimately the have the same power.

I think i prefer the 6n2 GTi to the Lupo

yep. Lupo's are faster... proved it on a few occasions...

think the gear ratio has a big part to play.

would pick the lupo all day long.
