Afksam
Just wondering what performance gains a straight though exhaust system gets and how its sounds?

davidelliott294
From reading through the forums in the past having also wanting to do this, you won't gain much if any as the car needs the back pressure for some reason. The only benefit you will get is the car will pop and maybe spit flames.

Dblock
Hmm would be pretty cool, thanks for the reply You could try HFC's for best of both worlds but usually its always a trade off. cats more low down torque but less everywhere else. Decats less torque but more higher up. This also depends on engine, map etc etc.
Afksam
Hmm maybe I'll leave it in and just replace the backbox with a straight though pipe and leave the cat as I would prefer to have torque

Little Green Giant
i cant see it popping flames to be honest
SupermanDan01
Keep the CAT, less hassle when it comes MOT time, unless you have a friendly MOTer
Cooper_GTI
Do away with the cat (both of them), do away with the centre silencer and just run either a standard or straight through back box for the ultimate in performance. You don't lose torque when decatting, you merely move the point at which peak torque occurrs, making it more 'rev happy'. This is also the case for increasing the bore of the exhaust.

Chrisbee
Decats are mainly for race cars due to them constantly at higher revs, pretty crap on a road car as you spend most of the time start stopping between lights
