GeoffD Posted May 20, 2012 Report Share Posted May 20, 2012 if you take it off,stand it upright in a vice ,or wedge it in a bucket with some bricks spray it quite a lot with wd40 a couple of times then dry off the excess wd. next get some of the engine oil that you always have left and pour it onto the exposed cogs. let it soak in and do it again. make sure its well soaked and give the drive cogs a good spin by hand if necessary repeat until its well soaked. mop up all the oil and replace the starter. this will work but if your starter is truly sick it will let you know! remember i have heard this in person and i think it just needs oiling-- regards geoff Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
