Bit of a basic question, what are the difficulties of putting a 1.4 tdi lump into a lupo gti 04 model,i have chance of a stunning lupo gti,but i like my diesels, but ive fallen in love with the lupo gti looks etc,im a reasonable diy mechanic and have access to full workshop tools etc,you guys on here are the experts though and i would be really appreciative of any help.

Im not an expert but i am going to tell you to put the tools down and walk away from the car.

If you want a derv go buy a derv , if you want a gti go buy a gti. DO NOT MIX THE TWO.

I contemplated this so I've worked out pretty much what you'd have to do.

Full loom through the car.

Fuel tank.

Wire in GTI headlights.

You'd have to de-widetrack the front as TDI shafts are TDI specific and you'd lose the length on them.

Basically a reshell with a couple of little complications, sounds a lot harder than it is.
