New rims look cool.

Please don't make the classic home DIY error of over complicating them 24353456 different colors.

Haha! nahh i wont, im painting the centres and currently polishing the dishes.

Polished dishes are so common but I still love them :P

Been on with a lot of sanding, but the wheels are starting to look how iv imagined so its worth it, managed to sort a lot of the kerbs out also B)

Cambelt kit from my local motor factors was something like 40 quid and then me and a mate just did it, so was very cheap compared to what a garage would charge :)

Small progress :coffee:

made a start to wheels, two are looking well, but still far from the finished product, been finding it hard to find time to spend on them, but should hopefully go on within the next month or so.

How i got them:

photo8.jpg

photo5.jpg

first grade of sandpaper to remove paint

photo7.jpg

Second, and a bit of attention to the centres including filler primer for the bad bits.

photo6.jpg

Finished sanding and gave it a quick autosol to see how theyd come up, still miles from finished, but getting there.

Had a bit of an issue the other day:

Haha thats my heatsheild from my cat, must have got sick of meeting the floor a lot.

Gave my brakes a bit of attention too, ill end up redoing them at some point though cos its not the best job.

Cheers!

Thinking about tyres to go on the wheels, wanna go 165/50

budget is tight so was gunna get nankang ns2, however not sure if i like the way when nankangs stretch a lot the sidewall sort of curves?

would like some Bridgestone Potenzas but cant afford the extra money, so probs have to put up with the nankangs, hopefully will look good.

got a few bits to do before they can go on, gunna have a go at rolling my rear arches, folding the lips over with a good old rubber mallet

also need to get my camber set up correctly, the front wheels are pulled out as far as they will go using the two bolts on the strut, been looking at those camber bolt kits from eibach, seen them on venom but not sure how good theyll be, anyone had any experience with these?

elongate the holes in your shocker with a file a little bit for extra adjustment and if those are normal steel coilovers it would be wise to put some grease on the threads and rings to help stop them seizing

looking good dude

done a bit more to the wheels

used this thing thats apparently call 'loy block' as the penultimate stage in polishing it leaves very fine scratches theat then polish out with autosol

P1010528.jpg

polishing pretty much all finished

P1010531.jpg

P1010532.jpg

got some cheap centre caps for them which will be painted along with the wheels

P1010530.jpg

trial fit:

photo2-1.jpg

Gave my engine bay a bit of attention as it was filthy and all of the dirt was baked on so took some effort to remove it with a degreaser

Before:

P1010535.jpg

P1010534.jpg

After:

P1010539.jpg

also polished and waxed the underside of the bonnet and added a few plastics i got from a local VAG specialist scrappy

P1010541.jpg

strut top caps i cut to make them sit lower

P1010540.jpg

and these little guys

it has tidied it up a bit :)

also from the scrap yard i got this:

P1010536.jpg

a flash red delocking cap which i fitted aswell as adjusting my handle cable thanks the the how to made by James Hipwell, was very helpful

had some paint mixed by a mate who owns a bodyshop for my wheels, so theyre in primer right now soon to be shot

also tyres are one theyre way

165/50/15 nankangs so hopefully the wheels will be on soon after giving my arches a bit of attention :)

Cheers
