Crusoe what car upgrade thread

z4 3lr has been great, 18 months is the longest I've kept a car and it is still running perfectly. Not much dealer stock at the moment and they have offered me over book price to trade it in so time for a change.

Mine needs a service and another years tax soon so I've got a 2003 E46 M3 in black on its way, deposit down today over the phone :D details photos etc. to follow when I hopefully pick it up next week. Tracker helps a lot on the insurance so it is only going to be an extra £133 a year over the z4.

Excellent choice Crusoe, I had no interest in the Z4 but the M3 is a fine choice. I have no doubt you will enjoy the car and love the noise and speed.

Have you gone for a soft top or coupe this time? If it si black then I hope it has polished 19's or CSL's on as they work so well with nice clean black paint.

Top choice, cant fault them really. Old man had one in steel grey with red leather, he should never have sold it! You going for the SMG box or old school manual? Ps the ACS roof lip spoiler is a nice little touch that you dont see often ;)

Agree that CLS and some lip spoilers look good

Mine is for driving not posing though so needed to be a 2003 onward coupe with the M strut brace and bi-xenon headlights as standard, 18in wheels which ride much better and find more grip over the 19s or non-magnesium CSLs. Manual with clutch rather than SMG.

Additional spec includes heated seats, electric glass sunroof, tracker, de-chrome shadow gloss exterior trim, in dash CD, front armrest, and CD boot stacker which I will steal the cable from and run in an I-pod probably.

Standard kit includes the 343bhp motor :D, electric sports seats, cruise, parking sensors etc. so just about my perfect spec. TV and nav unit is analogue so wont work when everything switches to digital and I dont use a satnav generally anyway with google maps on my phone if I get lost. SMG has expensive parts that need to be replaced at 60k miles or so and needs specialist attention if there are issues, prefer to heal and toe myself rather than let the computer do the changes.

In for the inspection 2 service just now which takes 8 hours (not me paying the dealer rates) then should be avaliable to pick up mid week. GF picks up her new Alfa mito on friday too so going to be a fight over which car to take at the weekend. :D

@Silver that photo was taken in America :P

Looks a bit too plain for you that does Crusoe?!

These would look nice on it:

Would work well with the black kidney grilles.

A nice intake kit here too:

Quite nice to fly slightly under the radar :D Past before people take a second look at what is closing fast behind them, already sounds quite likely to get you a car ASBO if you were silly with the throttle around town. Compared to the subaru I tried and even to my z4 you don't get half as many people trying to block you, accelerate or flash when you overtake them.

nope, it's a coupe not a hatch back... extended grey nappa leather shadow chrome metal inserts and anthracite head lining.

OK, Not parcel shelf then smart arse. Rear deck or whatever they call it.

A friend of mine had a silver Coupé with Black leather. Stupidly it had a navy blue rear deck. (the bit with the speakers in that you can see through the back screen, just behind the top of the rear seats.

Doesn't sound right, mine all matches inside with the seat trim matching the carpets and mats (bit of a pain to keep clean). Not seen any like your friends, maybe it had the rear seats replaced at some time or the shelf changed when they changed speakers etc. Might be a different rear shelf if it has the electric rear blinds option too.

Guest Lauryn

Looks minted, really nice in black too! I quite fancy an E46 M3 in either Phoenix Gold or Imola Red next, I've drove one before (SMG) and it was good, but I'm just not sure how I feel about RWD.

Enjoy!

RWD FTW :D

Scared the GF enough last night that she doesn't want a go... result :D Engine in good health averaged 29mpg so far which is a lot more than I had planned for as I've not been hanging around :)
