SamAtkinson
When driving in any gear, as soon as you put your foot down just a little bit there is like a wuring noise, its hard to explain. It could even be described as a churpingThere is actually a point if the accelerator is pressed below that level it will churpIt sounds like it's coming from the passenger side, but tghis could be because i dont have the door card on that side at the moment. When out of gear there is no noise, at least not one that can be heard slowly climbing through the rev rangeAny ideas?I should also add that the passenger side wheel has some pretty bad anti camber that will be sorted soon but I thought id mention everything just in caseThanksSam
Defcon5
What on earth is anti camber? Is it a constant noise or does it make the noise and then stop?
dj-jay
think u mean positive camber buddy, maybe driveshaft causing the noise as the drive shaft is prob not seated right due to camber, so when u put your foot down there is more tension on the shaft, just a guess, someone will put me right if im wrong,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

SamAtkinson
Any chance of a video/sound clip?what happens on the morotway when you let off the accelerator?harder to hear on the motorway because of the noise from the road but when coming off the accelerator the noise stopsI'll find a camera and go out in the car tonight. Its in any gear when ever I put my foot down
Brad.C
I have this on my Arosa, riding the clutch slightly results in a slight noise hard to explain. I have been told what it is but i've forgotten.

Brad.C
It's the Clutch Release Bearing, over time they get dry and make the noise. It's worse in the cold weather aswell. It isn't too serious but you might need to get a new clutch one day although i've been told it's nothing to worry about until you get real clutch problems ( Pops out of reverse, hard and cranky to get in to all gears )Hope this helped Brad. Couldnt manage to take a vid on the phone of the noise but will try again with a camera soonSam
Brad.C
Might be a wheel bearing then aswell :/
Defcon5
If the noise stops when you let off the accelerator, it can be the wheel bearing. Sure its not coming from the gearbox?

Defcon5
Sorry I meant it cant be the wheel bearing!
Brad.C
Sorry I meant it cant be the wheel bearing! Indeed, can't be wheel bearing if it only happens when accelerating or when you have the clutch down.
LupoGTiNAB
My mate wheel bearing only made a noise when he got about 50mph, not sure if this is the norm or not?Dunno why I've added that bit above because I don't think it's the wheel bearing anyway because in my experience wheel bearings (when they are broken) sound like when you were little and you'd stick a plactic bottle in the back wheel of your bike so it made an "engine noise" ... lol
luupo
mine does it when it's cold and it about 40mph or 50 or 60mph,does it for a while and then stops. it makes like 'uuuuuuuuuuuuuuu' noise never knew what is it? does it for over 1 year
SamAtkinson
Okay, so we dont think its the wheel bearing. Im going to get get the wheel camber sorted and cross my fingersInspect the whole axelI dont think it does make the noise when the clutch is pressed but its quite hard to tellTried recording it last night but its turning out to be a nightmare, need to get a hold of a propper camera see if the sound comes out any betterSam
