Silver!
That image is at least a couple of years old. First posted by DXG I think. Most likely a press hack after the new Lupo was rumoured. Looks very Clioyarisesque

LupoGTiNAB
i hope they dont do a mk2 lupo. well not if it looks like that anywayThe Up! ... looks very much in the pipelines ... I think it look good too, just imagine a GTi version ... although with it being eco-friendly I doubt it would be as good as the current range
LupoGTiNAB
Thought the fox was the replacement? It was but it flopped ... big style ... so they going down the eco-car route with their small car range

FLO7LXJ
The fox is made from metal and pineapples. THE FOX WAS NEVER A REPLACEMENT FOR THE LUPO As the lupo was a Polo with no boot, the Fox is a paired down Polo (budget car).I agree with jamiea7x the first pic has been posted before about 3 years ago.The UP may have been rumored to be a Fox replacement, now it seems it will go in either under the Fox or into the new sector that cars like the Toyota IQ are in.Don't slag off the Fox as it is a good car and a very good city car. LupoGTiNAB
Wow think someone really needs to check their facts before they embarrass themselves on an owners club website. The Fox did succeed the Lupo and was even called the Lupo in Mexico ...... A simple search in google for "VW Fox replaces" clearly lists thousands of websites stating that the Fox replaced the Lupo in 2005 AND Why would clublupo.co.uk have a separate forum for the fox if it wasn't a successor! Why not include Polo/Beetle/Jetta/Bora/Golf aswell, which covers nearly all of the VW small to mid car range? Why just these two? Production on the Lupo (VW smallest car range) ceased in Europe in 2005 and in South America in 2004 the production of the Fox began production in these continents when the Lupo ended. Thus making the Fox the smallest car that VW produced, clearly meaning the Fox replaced the Lupo in the VW range. Same as Vauxhall with Nova/Corsa, Cavilier/Vectra and Ford with Escort/Focus, Sierra/Mondeo ranges. Stu92
The up is more likely to be a mark 2 lupo imo, since the recent concept Iroc became the scIROCco, so up might mean lUPo..All three cars lupo, fox, and up all have similar concepts ie small car for the masses. But they have failed imo, either to expensive, or not what people expected in build quality from VW. Maybe UP will be a bit of the lupo and fox and still be a cracking car.The up has been in r&d for a few years and VW are taking there time to hopefully release an exciting wee motor. Fidge
I think there is deffo a market gap for a proper eco city car like the TDI Lupo/Arosa.I think the problem is that EU rules on emissions push for the use of DPFs and these are causing regeneration problems for diesel cars on short strips etc seeing as VAG engines don't use a catalystadditive for this process. This also leads me to believe as to why they never released a Diesel Fox(not in the UK anyway) Its seems madness not to put that awesome 1.2/1.4 TDI lump in the new Fox.Shame that because of the competition they pushed SEAT to axe the Arosa in 2005 also IMO it seems that VAG have taken a step backwards on eco city cars, with exception to the polo bluemotionbut is nothing to shout about with the likes of the previous 3L etc...Fidge
Blitzerman
Yeah Fox is lupos predecessor!. they stopped making Lupos because they were too well built!. im like 100% sure thats the reason! LOL but no, Fox's are awful few mates have got them seem so cheap and poorly built for even a cheap VW aweful replacement for Lupo IMO Edited January 14, 2011 by Blitzerman
JB1.0e
I spoke to our local VW dealer just before Christmas. He has actually seen the new UP! he told me that it has been toned down slightly from the original concept but it is a much nicer car that the Fox. He confirmed that the idea of calling the car Lupo has been dropped and that the new car will be UP!. The car will be launched with two special editions, UP! White and UP! Black. They have encountered the car at a clinic and he has been told that the car will be much cheaper to run than the Fox, but offer more style. I asked if there is going to be a GTI he said there is no immediate plans but there will be a turbo-charged petrol engine at the top of the range offering around 105PS. His parting comment was if you like small cars then I think you'll like the UP!On the subject of the Fox, there is a diesel for the European market that was never bought to the UK as the price would have made it uncompetitive, I think when the Fox was introduced they said it would have entered the market costing around £12,000. The dealer told me that VW has been unimpressed with the Fox, they had intended the car to appeal to a youthful market, the idea being you have a Fox as your first car then move on to a Polo or a Golf as you grow up, he pointed to the brightly coloured interiors as evidence. He told me that one of the biggest failing is the number of Lupo owners that have left the brand due to VW not offering a replacement, many claim the Fox is too cheap and the Polo was too dull or too big. I sat in a Fox at the dealer and it is quite a step down in terms of trim quality and perceived quality compared to the Lupo but I think we should not lose sight of the fact that this car was never really intended to appeal to the same people, the Lupo was designed for the well healed European market whilst the Fox was designed for the Brazilian market and they still buy the old FIAT UNO! It is a spacious cheap little family car but it sadly lacks character, while the competition such as the Hyundai i10 offers more equipment for the same money. Revo
Tbh I'd like a Fox, keep looking at them thinking it'd look brilliant lowered, smoothed etc but I want a diesel as a next car so it's not going to happen.
