AwesomeAl
Just a quick note to say:Diameter isn't everything when it comes to anti-roll bars.Different companies use different manufacturing techniques, along with using either solid or hollow bars and using Mandrell or Press bends. There are lots of factors that would make a difference. At the moment, The only after market front ARB available for the Lupo is the H&R one and they are currently around £235. Not cheep at all!
darwin
the gti arb upgrade could be well worth it to non gti lupos.the gti bar is 22mm, non gti bar is 18mm for some and 20mm for others. which respectively gives a 123% and 46% extra stiffness, which should be pretty accurate as the design/materials are of the same type.i would be worth doing even buying new from VW dealers. AwesomeAl
If you are doing the GTI bar upgrade, Make sure you get GTI Drop links, mounting bushes and clips The Drop links and mounting bushes because they have a bigger diameter hole. The Clips because they cost eff-all and you may as well have new ones Edited April 10, 2009 by AwesomeAl
simpo
But is you stiffen the front arb more without stiffening the rear wont it under-steer more? I did the gti front arb and jabba sport rear and it was a very good balance. The front arb and bushes was around £70 from the stealers, if anyone is interested. AwesomeAl
On the lupo the wheel base is quite short so you wouldn't make a dramatic difference to the levels of understeer. As the rear is closer to the front, it naturally gives the car a lot more grip than a longer car would have.Adding a rear anti-roll bar will always give an added benefit.
