Wow, did you search around on all insurance companies?

mymoneysupermarket.com

comparethemarket.com

quotezone.com

confused.com

etc.

Also try direct line - they were the cheapest for me (coz stepdad insures with them I got discount)

I paid £1500 for a 1.4 Polo :/

Would think it will go up once you pass though, as you'll be driving unsupervised.

Just to add my 2p.

I'm looking for quotes atm, 20 yo, 3yrs NCB, looking at a '00 Golf GTI.

Adrian Flux, HIC & Brentacre are all within £30 of each other. (£740 - £770)

Brentacre offered free modified suspension, exhaust, alloy wheels, etc (whatever etc is??) cover included in the price! and where the cheapest of the 3.

Still looking around, but somehow, I don't think Ill beat that.

I remember from when I passed, the specialists where always stupidly high quotes, but once you have a few years NCB under your belt, there the only sensible ones. The cheapest quotes I get off price comparison websites is £1300 now.

One to look out for, which I haven't tried, and hadn't heard of until today is www.tiger.co.uk. You might want to give it a try.

My mum had 27 years no claims!

My brother insured his VTR under her name to get cheaper insurance, but he crashed and had to make a claim...

Because he was a named driver we thought her no claims would be ok, but she lost all 27 years!

She never claimed since she learnt to drive and now she lost em all :|

Normally you dont lose all your no claims, it will just be stepped back by 2/3 years, thats what happened to me.

Thats high, bearing in mind i am a lad and i got a quote 3rd party fire and theft dad as main driver, and it was 850 on a 1.4tdi

If you are going to be the main driver of the vehicle you need to be the main driver on the insurance, else its fraud.
