Anything new? really excited to hear about this loop.

Yes, experienced some delays due to the earthquake/tsunami here, but got around to making the Lupo even wider

Now the car sits 90mm wider in front, and 40mm wider in the rear.

The rear fenders will need some more work.

Going in for a paint job next week, will keep you posted.

Nice work!! Glad you are well and survived the disaster, terrible watching it all unfold on the news over here!

Are you going to be getting some larger wheels now then to fill those huge arches??

Hey thanks.

There was actually very little damage done to Tokyo, just some scheduled blackouts, and some food/water/fuel shortages.

I could probably go up to 9J wheels with 245 tires, but this is track car, so I will probably get 225s in the front and 195s in the rear. Custom wheels with custom offsets.

are there any downsides to such a large increase in track width? Would it make it less agile?

Downsides: Making the car wider will increase the scrub radius, so steering effort would increase, and straight-line stability will decrease. The hub/wheel bearings will also be under a lot more stress, so I will have to inspect them quite often.

Aside from all that, the car becomes more nimble while braking and turning into a corner at 10/10 (also depends which end you make wider; front or rear), the initial torque of the LSD will decrease making the LSD more effective, and the car will turn in a smaller radius.

haha nice work, i kinda like the colour as it's so different!!!

Why dont the rear arches look as wide now it's been painted though?

Tom

It must be the angle, they are actually wider :)

Went to the track for a quick shakedown, but the power steering pump and radiator fan broke.....

Will be replacing those items soon.

The car will be going in for one last body work, a front lip.

Here are some more pics

The car is fitted with 25mm spacers in the front, and 15mm in the rear.

Will be swapping those out with 45mm and 35mm soon.

The interior is painted a different color, a darker shade, kind of like a military color.

Will get better pics soon.

Yeah i see what you mean, they are wide!!!

Looks brilliant tada!!!!! What sort of lap time are you getting around tsukuba?

I heard anything under 1 minute is seriously fast B)

Keep up the good work!!!

Just thinking about those spacers, won't they put alot of stress on your hubs/bearings?? :o

Thanks :)

Anything under the 1 minute mark is reserved for race cars with over 400hp (at least)

A Nissan GT-R driven by a pro racer laps Tsukaba with a time of about 1:02 or 1:03.

The Lupo in stock form laps Tsukuba in 1:15, my Lupo did it in about 1:10 before the rollcage and weight reduction.

I am hoping to cut into the 1:07 range with R-comps.

And yes, the spacers will put alot of stress on the hub bearings.

They will become regular maintenance parts for this car.

Your welcome,

I've seen alot of videos of car's and various races around Tsukuba, mainly the 'Best Motoring' guys!!!!!!One of my favourite tracks!!

Keep us updated with your progress and any videos, 1 min 10 is impressive stuff!!!!!

regards

Tom

Why dont you get a really low et wheel with a bit of width so you dont need spacers?

Ive had 35mm spacers before and they look scarily wide wouldn't like to imagine 45mm ones :o
