Did some researching, and it seems that I'm SOL for a LSD.

Time for some headwork.

1) Schrick 256/252 cams

2) Exhaust ports matched to the Raceland mani and polished.

3) 2nd remap

Will be done within a 2 week timeframe.

I'll keep you guys posted.

I would go for more aggressive camshafts than that for a race car. something equivalent to this with some springs and retainers would be ideal

Thanks for the tip.

This car is not a race car; my R32 is closer to it.

And I'm a Schrick dealer so it makes better sense this way.

Power mods: 425HP turbo, titanium exhaust

Suspension: Moton dampers w/ resorvoirs, Hyperco springs

Brakes: Front and rear Alcon 4-pot calipers w/ 355mm rotors

Drivetrain: Front and rear Peloquin LSDs

Chassis: 12-point rollcage

Cam cover taken off for a full P&P and installation of Schrick cams.

It seems that all the previous info about the intake ports were correct.

There is hardly any port matching to do on this side.

Probably about a millimeter all around.

But here is where it gets interesting.

There is a TON to be ported on the exhaust side.

Here are some measurements I took (remember the exhaust ports are oval shaped and are shorter vertically)

Gasket ports:

30.0mm(H) x 43.5mm(W)

Manifold ports (from left to right)

29.5mm(H) x 51.0mm(W)

26.5mm(H) x 49.5mm(W) <- WTF

29.5mm(H) x 51.0mm(W)

29.5mm(H) x 51.0mm(W)

Head ports:

23.5mm(H) x 32.0mm(W)

As you can see, when matched to the gasket, the exhaust ports can be ported 6.5mm in height and 11.5mm in width.

And when matched to the manifold another 7.5mm in width!!!! THAT IS HUGE!!!

(the Raceland manifold has one small port. Probably a manufacturing error.)

We are still debating on whether we should port match to the gasket or the exhaust manifold.

The head came back yesterday.

As you can see, I ended up matching the ports to the gasket.

So the width is now 30.00mm (ported 6.5mm) and the height is 43.5mm (ported 11.5mm)

For those wondering, that is more than a 70% increase in port area, which is HUGE.

(area of oval = pi*a*b where a = half length of major axis (horizontal) and b = half length of minor axis (vertical))

before = 590mm^2

now = 1024mm^2

The valves were all pulled and chambers were also ported.

Had it gas-flowed, but decided against polisihing it.

Some engineers have told me that it doesn't make a difference, as far as flow efficiency goes.

At any rate, the head is on the car now and the Schrick cams are being assembled.

In the meantime, the exhaust mani has been wrapped.

After that, off to the ECU tuner.

We added a duct to the CDA intake, and routed it to the lower bumper grill.

I'm hoping it'll lower the intake temperature.

The car came back from the cam install, and I test-drove it before sending it off to the tuner.

Bottom line: even without the tune, the car is MUCH faster

The midrange torque from 3000RPM is ridiculous, and it pulls hard until redline.

The flatness of power between 5.5KL-7K rpm is gone; the engine really wants to pull hard even past 7000+rpm.

I will tell the tuner to set the fuel cut-off point at 7500rpm.

Overall I cannot be happier of the results.

I was expecting some torque loss from the extra duration of the cams, but the P&P really set this engine alive.

I have high expectations of what the tuner can add to the output.

Will track the car on the 18th. Can't wait.

So, for those of you wondering, this is a highly recommended mod!!

do you know if that rear sway bar will fit on non gtis as it looks as if it is just bolted to the bottom of the suspension struts,and then two more brackets holding it in the middle

I barely know anything about my own car. I've only had it for 3 months. :)
