Pepsi
Right, what size would be better on my GTi...It's lowered around 60mm all round, the wheels are ET36.Either 165/50's, or 185/45's.Which would be better, I'm guessing the 165's would catch less on the arches, is there any reason to go for the 185's?If going for the 165's, is it worth the extra £15 a tyre for Potenza's over NS2's? I know Nankangs are known for being shite wiuth grip, but are the Potenza's worth the extra cash? Thanks!
Nicki
I'd be inclined to go as close to the standard rolling radius as I could tbh... standard GTI wheels are 15 x 6.5J with 205/45s.I'm assuming the wheels aren't 15s?Use the tyre calculator to find the closest rolling radius:http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Pepsi
They are 15", sorry forgot to say.The wheels won't be on for long journeys etc, mainly just to look cool on through the weeke etc.Am I right in thinking the rolling radius will only affect the speedo accuracy, and nothing else? Pepsi
Cheers mate, any pics of stretch on it?I can get 4 potenza's for £160 delivered too so not bad at all, although I'll leave those for a month depending on what colour I choose for the new wheels. Philplop
You shouldn't get any catching on the arches, they're only 8mm further out than standard.195/45's should be fine.No need to stretch really, and 165's will make the wheels look skinnier and the car look higher from the back.Although I never had problems with my Nankangs, they seemed fine, I would pay the extra for Potenza's.
