can any one tell me if there is a supercharger kit for my lupo gti

so how did u build your one seen it in the mag looks fab how much it cost 2 super charge it mate

I don't recall him actually mentioning anything about doing the job himself, and by going off your logic of 'using his head' to research it, then what exactly is it he's doing on here? Is he not researching it by asking questions, granted not very well, but still, he's asking the people who own the vehicles, and who have been members of the forum for a lot longer than he has, and the members who have been through the job themselves whether they used a kit if one is available, and if not then what would he need to take into consideration for the job and what kind of money he'd be looking at. Sounds fair enough to me. Although personally I would just advise him to read through the full build thread of John's project and then decide after all that whether it is something he wants, or more importantly can afford to get involved with. But fair play to John for giving him a ball park figure for his own one.

You cant compare johns build with any normal conversion , how many people do you know that have charged the same or a very similar engine themselves , 0 -1 and thats being generous. Most who want to do it usually have a very good knowledge of the basics of what is needed and usually ask relevant questions , not the ones getting asked here. Now that relevance could be technical or they understand its a touch out of reach and are asking about companies credentials on who could do the work to the srough ball park spec they are thinking about.

The people who ask these type of questions above either A- have the cash but not the knowledge B- pipe dreamers who decided to try writing a thread because they heard someone else mention superchargers at the local McD meet. or C- just plain stupid .

Now i haven't a clue what the OPs status is , he may well have the cash and not the knowledge/tools/space. Id like to think he has will decide on a company that will do a good job, plus he did ask some relevant questions , really hope another charged one appears either built or bought. But its the other questions that make me laugh not the ones by the OP

I wasn't talking about the o/p, I was talking about the lad who I quoted. We all know that most people on here aren't going to do the conversion no matter how much they talk about it, but I'm trying to look at the bigger picture and although I totally agree with you about this other fella who kinda hi-jacked the thread with ridiculous questions, and I did say in the first place that he did deserve abit of a jab at him from the more quick witted members that see these sorta posts day in and day out.

But for other people that don't use the site as often as we do and don't know the threads inside out, when they see these more recent threads and see the responses that I'd say three quarters of the o/p's get, it will put them off even sticking a thread up, and that limits the amount of times you will see the conversions done, admittedly not like Casper's, I totally believe thats a one off, but lets say Andyp's charger conversion, thats not a million miles away from hopeful for some. There are people out there lucky enough to have the finances, if not the know how to do the job, but if they come on here for abit of expertise or advice then I feel the cynical responses in most of the threads will put people off even attempting it, I mean if you can't get advice from the people who live and breath these cars then its gonna take aero engineers to get the job done ain't it!! And you don't find too many of those rolling around in lupo's!

Banter has its place, I know that as much as anyone, but abit more of a balance surely couldn't hurt. You see what I mean? I'm not gonna blow smoke up your ring mate but I do think what you say is pretty funny and you're sharp as a pack of pins, theres no questions there, but I think with your credentials in this forum if you spent as much time, or maybe a little extra time, giving advice that everyone knows that you can offer, and a little less time picking up on clangers that fresher members drop, then we'd probably get more creativity from, lets face it, the rich bitches that join up!

I hope I haven't pushed your nose out of joint mate. I just want us all to get on and for the club to have some good times, great knowledge, and even better cars.

How can you advice people when a high percentage of the threads ask if the same old questions with no imagination , you know the questions inside out and the answers are all over the board.

You don't see LGG asking what colour his wheels should go next, or silver asking what bodykit he should get next and should he fit coilers , if people word there questions correct then there can be a discussion but they seem to post the same generic no thought **** week in week out.

Prime example

" what wheels should i fit next and what colour should i paint them"

or

" i have a red car and and i've been looking at new wheels , my budget is £xxx and im into the smaller sizes and would like them wide but proportional, maybe in a lattice design, does anyone have any ideas?"

Which one would you prefer to reply to ??

Obviously the second one, and once again your totally spot on, but maybe instead of finding more wonderful ways in which to make people look and sound as stupid as they appear to be, we should either just generically post a link on their thread that takes them to a part on the forum terms and conditions relating to the formatting of questions, if there is one, I'm not sure that there is, and if there isn't one then maybe you should, as the more experienced member of the two of us, bring it to one of the moderators attention so that they can make newbie's aware that they do need to be as specific as possible with the questions they ask and on the information they're after, and how they are to put it across to the public forum. Because cynical, sarcastic comments thread after thread doesn't look good. Agreed?

Loopoete you must have one very very sensible job , probably one that makes you wear pointy sensible shoes

Its the internet , its meant for information , questions and taking the piss , i offer more of one than the other , but if someone asks a genuine question or even a generic one but asked right with some thought then ill help no prob's .

I'm actually a truck mechanic, so I'm not allowed to wear my pointy shoes till I've finished my shift unfortunately. ;)

Like I say, there's always room for banter, and yeah abit of piss taking, but surely that can be kept for people you're matey with and know how far you can go with, not with strangers who aren't as clever or technical as you are.

When I'm on here I'd like to help people one way or another, even when they're being pretty stupid. And I know you do to under certain circumstances, but what would you rather do, just leave things how they are so you can get hot under the collar at how vague and almost pointless some topics are, or give the newbie's a chance to put over their questions in a way that allows you to dish some of your wisdom out??

Its the internet , i don't do upset.

I can turn it off and it all goes away .

How about we split the duties , you carry on trying to right the world via car forums and ill keep up with silly comments at **** threads, its a pretty good deal .

You can be robin and ill be batman , but the one from batman begins , it was a far cooler film.

Whoa whoa whoa!! How come you get to be Batman?!? If anything you should be The Joker, I should be Batman!! You think my pointy shoes will go with the outfit tho??

Ive already spent over an hour cuddling men today , sweaty men in shorts too.

I used to have a set of ninja stars as a kid and once found a bat lying on the floor , that justifies me saying im batman.
