Ardent
For those that went on the rolling road day. Not intrested in what power, but at what revs was peak power produced?as much as I like the sound from the twin sex pipes, do not see much point in revving past optimum power. So if anyone has their print out handy (i`m sure you do) please spill the beans. i am thinking perhaps mid to late 5s.jayson looking to ride the wave
M1 Lupo
The peak is at 6500.
MattyB
Here's mine....http://lupogti.moddedcars.com/events/rrday/rrcurve.jpgAlthough mine peaked very early compared to everyone elses, we assume it was due to the K&N induction
M1 Lupo
Did you have cold air ducting to the K&N at the time?
RobinA3
for a 1.4 16vpeak power is 6000rpmpeak torgue is 4400rpm.
Putney
do not see much point in revving past optimum powerthere is if you going round a corner! don't want to lift off! it also means that the revs are higher for the next gear change. Buy a tdi then tell me there is no point in reving past peak power! :baa:
Medwaygti
Can someone explain all this stuff ?Peak power is that when u are supposed to change gear would it make u faster?
twisty b-road
Mine is standard and my power curve says peak at 6450By 6800rpm there is only 105bhpI haven't revved mine past 6500 on the road since the rr day

RobinA3
right peak power is when you should change up so that power doesn't die on you once you get up into the rev rangehighest toirgue is where the engine is running most efficiencly therefore the best mpg - i think thats right, anyone? MattyB
Yes you do want to change up at peak power - past that its pointless as the power/torque drops off.But the good thing about the 6 speed box is that because its close ratio, your back right in the money as soon as you change gear as you drop less revs. There is a more technical aspect to it, something about needing to be above the torque/power "crossover" when you change up to be at optimum...something like that anyway. twisty b-road
still dont get it ?At 6800 rpm my car was making almost 30bhp less than it was at 6500rpm. No idea why. ???
