GTI's 12k Service at VW Dundee - Absolute `rip-off`

Just put my Gti in for its 2nd service, at 12k miles (its 2 years old).

Basically its oil, oil filter & pollen filter + a quick `all-round` check.

Total cost £190!!!

£35 for the oil alone?!!!!! I mean - `come-on` VW, give's a break!

Then, i get told "an exhaust clamp was broken" so new centre section must be replaced, total cost to be £90 + VAT + fitting. The milage is low & the car is spotless, so it cannot be corrosion causing the break - should I have to pay for any repair?!

Cant believe I'm regretting going from an old beaten up 205 1.9 to a Lupo Gti......

Wow thats expensive.

My 10000mile service was free on demand as the dealer had messed me about so not sure what that should have cost.

My 20000mile service after 1year only cost me £120 and they took ages as i make them take loads of care with the car.

??? Sorry mate, you should have asked and I’d have told you to avoid Dundee with a barge pole and head up to Aberdeen to Specialist Cars VW like I do. £96 for the first service done in 45min while I waited and they still managed a quick valet inside and out plus the little things like putting your seat back in position and returning the radio to it's previous station. Service I got when looking to buy one for Dundee and from past experience with that group from their Peugeot dealership would put me off them for life. P.S. you need to do more miles biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Try Camerons in Perth! Not cheap but good service. I paid £100 for my 30,000 service on 1.4E.

Alternatively, try Jim at Star Perfomance, Glenrothes who charges £25 an hour for VW Club members. Sold me a nice set of Lupo alloys and tyres for only £100
