Tomsw
My first car, 1.0 arosa with 34000 miles on the clock. Standard at the moment but planning on changing that.
weslangdon
Don't go overboard with the mods, you will never get the money back, better to save it for your next car, drive safe!
mk2
I'll second that... you could have spent another 1k and maybe bought a much faster bigger car. But the running costs would have been way too high, which is why you opted for a little Arosa? Lots of people want a Lupo or an Arosa to be a Lamborghini. If you spend perhaps 50k+ you could get close, but still not the real deal (obviously). A huge amount of expert engineering goes into designing a top car, which is why they're expensive. Modding a car will generally only devalue a car, although the bonus is that you'll learn lots. Believe it or not, people who work for big car companies are petrolheads just like us lot. Really. The design team for a new model is often only perhaps just five or six people. Often in their 60's. In their free time they still play with and drive fast cars.... Tomsw
Cheers for the advice, wasn't planning on going over the top on the mods cause of insurance. I only plan on keeping the car for a couple of years anyway, happy with her at the moment though.
cj1
Mod it to your heart's content. It's your first car and a good learning experience. I don't see anywhere any mention of you wanting it to be fast, so just make it look good and to your taste. Look forward to seeing some updates! Rich
lower it and stick awkward wheels on so you can learn it all for yourself.

Need to ring up my insurance company first to see how much it will all be. But that's the plan.
mk2
Insurance companies generally only cost you extra if you change stuff that affects performance or safety... Stuff like upholstery, paint, body kits, ICE and stickers, no problem. Wheels, exhaust, suspension, brakes and engine... yeah.
