sam91lfc
Hey all, having some problems with my VW Lupo 1.7 sdi. Last week the gear box sh*t itself, so I replaced the gearbox yesterday with another 1.7 sdi box, now the car won’t engage any gears whilst the engine is switched on. (Selects gear fine whilst engine is turned off) prior to this the clutch was perfect so didn’t bother changing it just for the sake of it. Any advice welcome! Sorry if this is in the wrong topic to post.
Sausage
Check clutch cable adjustment (needs some free play) and also try starting it in gear with clutch pedal down and with nothing in the way in case it moves when started. Does the pedal feel normal or stiff or slack? Edited July 12, 2018 by Sausage
mk2
yeah, the clutch isn't disengaging....
Rich
sounds like box off time. i had hassle with a mk3 cabby once, box off and on every day for a week till i found the fault.
sam91lfc
Clutch cable seems fine, start the car whilst in first gear and she does roll, just ordered a clutch, and it will be going to the garage! Really has puzzled me because prior to the gearbox change the clutch seemed fine and went into gear!
Andrew1971
Welcome to the Forum Adjust the clutch cable. Would have to come off when changing the gear box.
Rich
definitely try the cable. in future when you change a box, just do the clutch, you have already essentially paid the labour.
