brownah
Hi guys, My indicator stalk has gone on my lupo GTi 2003. I was about to buy a new one but I've read on an eBay advert that there's two variants? (One of them has "two wires and 4 pins") Any idea which one I need? And also, is there a nice guide on replacing the whole stalk unit. I've only come across the guide that shows how to take it all apart and clean the contacts. I get easily confused lol Thanks in advance!
Rich
disconnect battery. 10mm spanner take airbag off (ask Joe a). flat screwdriver take wheel off after marking centre, unplug airbag and be careful not to unravel, 24 mm socket remove column surround, (long t20 screwdriver and one t25. unplug stalk wires with hands undo three flatblade stalk screws. pull stalks. repeat in reverse. give rich medal. Skajme
Yeah it's fairly easy to do exactly how rich said! Did it on my last lupo after the clicking noise became almost permanant! Most annoying part is getting the airbag off!
Rich
airbag is so easy.

Rich
really is. joe A is my airbag protege, I no longer need to explain.
mk2
Whats the big deal? You just unplug that little yellow connector? Huh? or is everyone talking about the steering wheel centre assembly, that hooks into the wheel? Yeah a bit more fiddly... Rich
not fiddly, so easy. you just need an understanding of it. those yellow clips are harder, sometimes they snap.
danno
I find it easier after advice from Rich but I still don't enjoy it.
mk2
I'm sure I just heard a whipping sound... now who was it in that black gimp suit thing...?
hoddlewaddle
Getting the airbag unit free is much easier once you've actually seen how the clips work. Unfortunately you can't see it until you've got it off...
