mike.gamble
I have an ‘02 which is leaking like a sieve and I think it’s the sunroof drains that are blocked. where do the drainage holes come out on the bodywork so I can try and clean them out? Rich
front ones are inside the door check under a rubber circle. rear ones are under the bumper. fronts are prone to leak more than the back, take care as if you pull the rubber off the hose you will have to take the headlining out. mike.gamble
Cheers for the reply. I’ve had a look but, I can’t see any obvious drains in the a pillar. I've removed a plastic cap/cover and there’s nothing there. Do you mean the rubber protector that has the wiring in for the door?
Rich
no, that plastic cap which has nothing there. something should be there
mike.gamble
Ah. I’m guessing that the previous owner may have messed around with it? We've only had it a couple of weeks but, with all the rain, it’s like a fish bowl! What will I need to do to resolve it?
Rich
take the arch liners off at the front, clear the crap and hopefully retrieve the rubbers. if not use golf mk4 ones. roofliner out to access the pipes and make sure they are clear. all easy stuff. mike.gamble
Ok. How easy is it to drop the roof liner down? It looks like the sun visors and handles need removing then it can drop down? Is it held in place by clips?
Rich
remove sunvisors, clips, handles, little centre sun visor. remove the light and then you will see how the sunroof switch panel comes off. removing the headliner from the sunroof is literally a yark it off the round clip bit job if i remember correctly. holly_batchelor
Just been sorting out the same sunroof drainage hole issues. The rear drainage pipes actually come out behind the rear lights and just drains down through the body work from there (so it appears it drains under the bumper). Such a weird spot to have them but have attached pictures as I’ve never found a picture online. It’s the hole where the red mark is
