JoeyEunos
My query is simples. I've been offered a very cheap OE head unit and CD player in Gamma flavour, the tape deck I removed from was a Beta although from my understanding the only difference is the Gamma units allow four speakers to be used but the wiring/connections should be compatible...? Here's where the plot thickens, the guy selling has no code and given it's going on a different car/ECU/Vin one will be required in order to make things work? Is this an 'Off to VW' job? Is there any way to obtain the code in a more cost effective manner (Or ideally FOC)? Thanks in advance for any help or sugestions on this chaps

I haven't actually picked up the radio yet, will be doing so over the weekend. Will I need the Vin/Chassis number from the car the radio came from too? lupogtiboy
Nope, just your chassis and the radio serial number, they usually start VWZ......

Pete
I don't understand what the issue is? They will have radio codes on record I'd imagine for standard equipment linked to vin number.
Rich
I'm pikey, if I see a gamma in a scrappy and the code is the handbook, I know I can sneak one out. want a single din cd player to match it?

They're actually for my Mk4 Golf old chap. I too love making a saving where I can (Even to the extent of pikey-ish tactics at times) I haven't crossed into scrap yard theft territory yet though Pair of them for the princely sum of £10, and they look just like these... Rich
scrappy theft just makes it more reasonable when you have to pay. that's my moral justification of it. today I am removing a double stitch leather interior and a full pd130 conversion on 112k for the sum of £150. that feels like theft. lupogtiboy
And the bonus of the single-din cd player is that you can add a 6 disc VW changer to it as well!
