Dannynewport1978
I'm about to put an 1.8T in the rear of my Lupo GTI so wondered if anybody can give me help & advice on mounting it via subframe from another VW welded in or made up space frame. I can't seem to find it done before only in the twin engined VR6 Lupo. It should hopefully be pushing 350+BHP when installed. Thanks in advance.?? Thanks. The only Chris D I can find is a Chris Dunderdale but can't see any threads about a rear engine conversion. Could he of possibly left the forum? Rich
it was a mk4 polo, it wasn't on this forum. he used a mk3 golf sub frame in the back as it has engine mounting points. seems the common way to do it, now go chop up something ****, not the gti

Thanks so much for that info, the subframe was one of the main things I wanted to know about. Mk4 Polo conversion??. Is it any particular Mk3 Golf subframe? Would a Mk4 be the same as I've got hold of one of those but was just worried about being too wide. I know it may seem like blaspheme in here but I also have access to another GTI & was wondering whether the front subframe from that would be a better option if modifiable.? I owe you a blast!??? Rich
no. golf 4 and lupo frames dont work, only mk3 has the mounting cups. where is the collection of gti bits? also, keep all this to one thread and don't litter the forum, makes it easier for anyone who is stupid enough to copy. I converted an R5 to rear engined about 10 years ago so can pass some tips but I guess you've either done it or canned the idea
