Puchateek
Hi guys, A few days ago I found a small leak under the front of the car, I looked under to see what's going on, I saw the engine block was wet (dry conditions) and took some pictures... I checked the engine oil, it's at the same level as before I saw the leak, coolant is there so it's not that... I'm clueless to be honest so I thought I'd ask? Gearbox oil? It's a 1.0 petrol. Thanks in advance!!
mk2
Difficult to tell from the pics. Clean everything and then look for where the leak starts.
Rich
if there is a leak, could just be crap from the road ?
Puchateek
Well looking at the last close up, it seem's it's coming from the top of the beige cap (btw, there is a plastic cap attached to it, should it be placed over the beige hole entry, or leave it exposed?) The roads are dry at the moment, and there is a clear leak mark everywhere I go! Now thinking it could be head gasket seal if it's coming from the top? Skezza
Isn't that the inspection hole?
cj1
36 minutes ago, Skezza said: Isn't that the inspection hole? Yes it is. No oil should ever be in there. I would say this cap is a red herring and it's far more likely the leak or fluid is originating from somewhere higher up. Try again.
mk2
crank seal? box input shaft seal (but you'd smell the gear oil)? rocker cover gasket?
