Rear Washer Broken

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with my rear washer jet on my GTI.

When i push the stalk forward the wiper arm goes but i get no washer fluid at all.

ive replaced the nozzle, incase it was jammed.

I've checked the hose is connected. then i checked to see if there was any fluid going through the clear pipe. NO GO.

Any Suggestions on a fix?

It may also be worth, if Mk2 suggestion isn't the problem, disconnect the pipes off the motor and then operate the switch, does it spew water everywhere?

Unlikely that it's stopped working there, but process of elimination and that!

There's a connector joining two pipes together which sometimes separates. Its located behind the lhs rear seat trim card or arm rest.

Not checked yet, is that behind the rear quarter door card? or the one under that?

Seeing this earlier prompted me to have a look at mine today.

The joint above was split - I've pushed it back together nice and tight.

My only problem is that the 90 degree elbow in the tailgate itself doesn't seal well onto the nipple on the wiper arm.

Could fill it with silicone to make it watertight but doesn't feel right doing that - what's the proper way of doing it? Should it have  a jubilee clip or similar around it?

Will give that a try tomorrow and see how I go.

EDIT: welding wire just snapped so I tried the silicone but noticed that the elbow was actually split which is why it doesn't fit over quite right. Time to find an alternative now, a bit of clear pvc tube will do I think.
